Hello,
I am looking for and awesome chiropractor in the West Plano area who treats children with asthma. Could anyone suggest a doctor who has a super clean office, preferable a Christian, and someone who would not do accupunture or accupressure on my child?

Thank you so very much for all of your responses. I am so sorry that I did not specify that I live in Plano, I'm new to Mamasource. Yes, she has been treated since she was 18 months old through meds but I just hate giving her all of those steriods, etc. We just finished a Christian missionary project in a community that had a lot of Parker College of Chiropractic students. I learned a lot about the benefits of chiro care and everyone I ran into shared that chiro care could help my daughters asthma. From the way I understood it, most all nerves that control our bodily functions stem from our spine and if there could be a problem in the area where her lung nerves, etc are controled??(that sounds so elementary but that's the wasy I understood it, I could be wrong) I would never do something crazy and not give her meds especially if she was having an attack but I appreciate your concern. Thanks again for your help!!!

I've never heard of treating asthma through a chiropractor. That is a problem with breathing and lungs and they don't treat lungs.
However, if you need a great chiropractor, the best one I've ever seen is Dr. Michael Shippy at Coit and Park in Plano. ###-###-####
Chiropractors do not treat asthma -- pulminologists do.
I have asthma as well and can (also) tell you that no reputable chiropractor can help treat asthma. (And yes, I have gone to chiropractors so I'm not against them at all.)
Chiropractors are good for treating alignment, muscle and soft tissue problems through manipulation. Your lungs and asthma have nothing to do with this. They cannot be manipulated (and you wouldn't want them to.) Asthma is not caused by misalignment or anything like that. I sincerely hope that you've found good medical care and treatment for your child either from a pediatrician or a pulminologist. If you find a chiropractor who claims they cure your child's asthma -- don't walk, RUN from his or her office as soon as you can. They're most likely a scam. Maybe some adjustments might make him or her feel better short term, but they do not "treat" asthma.
I have an awesome christian chiro in Mckinney. I know it's not in Plano, but it's worth the drive. He believes that your whole body is connected to your spine and that it can control everything from breathing to hormone regulations etc better when your body is in alignment.Also beieves that "the power that made the body can heal the body".
My whole family goes to him. He has heledp us with allergies, ear infections and my allergy induced asthma that just flared up recently.

I don't know if she even does accupunture or accupressure, but what I can assure you of is that when you tell her you do NOT want to use certain treatments she listens! Her goal is to work with you to regain optimum health! She cares for more than just getting through the appointment. She cares personally about each client. My daughters and I go there and I would follow her to where ever she practices if she were to move her office.

I highly, highly recommend Dr. Melissa Shelton. I have been taking my 9 month son to her since January. To be honest, we are not going for asthma and I am not 100% sure she treats that. But I have nothing but great things to say about her, her practice, and the great results we have seen for my son. It's worth looking in to.

Just to throw my two cents in, I has asthma and no chiropracter in my life has been able to give me any relief. I'm 40, so that is many years of trying! Medication these days is great, and I am finally able to exercise and go through allergy season without wheezing! I just don't believe, based on experience, that chiropractic can treat asthma. I wouldn't waste the money.

They do not use accupuncture or accupressure, but they do use some alternative therapies (ultra sound, heat, cold, traction, etc.) in addition to chiropractic. We have been very happy with them! I would recommend Dr. Teresa Jones in Garland. She is off of Namaan School Road and the name of her clinic is Whole Health Chiropractic. She is into overall health and fitness and I don't think she does accupunture! You could always call the office and talk to someone. My family has been seeing her for almost 15 years and she is a wonderful sweet Christian lady. Her office is very nice and super clean. She isn't one of those who just crack your back and send you on your way. She offers other treatments and therapies for achieving optimal wellness. Depending on where you live, she might just what you are looking for!
