I can never remember the name of the place but it's at Big Beaver and Rochester Rd. They will replace just the glass.
Hello. We have a large front window that opens by sliding side to side- like a doorwall would. Each halp is apv 3 feet tall and 2.5 feet wide. The glass is double pane and the frame is probably alum. They are likely as old as the house- which is just under 30 years.
Anyway- one of the inside panes broke this morning- on the side that slides.
What do I do? Who do I call? Do I need an entirely new window(I doubt it- but what do I know)? Can someone come and just replace the glass? Who is good for this? Appriciate any advice on this!
Also- I live in Royal Oak.

Try Harris Glass 1st. They will eventually have to remove the sash and replace it in shop, I think. Leaving you with plastic perhaps?? Other than that, you would have to call a window installer who would come by and measure, then order a new window which would take approx. a week to get in then re-install.....leaving you with a totally different looking window. Unfortunatley, you seem to have some inefficient windows in your home. I know times are tough, but new windows will be a great energy saver for you!
A glass place will fix it, so will a handyman service. both are listed in the yellow apges, there are several in your area. YOu could aks your neighbors if they ahve a handyman service that they use, I have used a glass chain (the name escescapes me right now) several times with good results.
Do NOT use Henderson Glass. We had our storm door shot out with a bb gun - lovely and it took Henderson 4 attempts to get the correct replacement. The first one they broke getting it off the truck (and never swept the mess up). Second was scratched. Third was wrong size and fell out(!). It took about 5 weeks start to finish to get it replaced and their customer service was appalling.
Same thing happened to me, call Alco Glass at corner of 12 mile and Greenfield
Call Matt's Glass, on John R in Mad Hgts. Matt is
fair & honest, and will come to your house. He does
both commercial and residential glass.
I can highly recommend Matt's Glass ###-###-####. They are a family run business, Christian people and will come to your home to give an estimate. They have fixed two of my Florida room windows. Good luck!
I would call a glass repair place and ask them how to handle it. Also call home depot and ask them. Then go from there.
