Seeking Activites for Toddlers or Mom's Group

I live in Maugansville and have a 16 month old and an almost 3 year old. I was wondering if anyone knew of any fun activities or mom's groups in the area. I found Toddler Time at the Washington Co. library, but not much else. Any help would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

HI S.

My name is L. Ellis and I live in Waynesboro, PA. If I am correct you are not that far from me. My # is ###-###-####. If you are close call me. We do a lot of getting together so our children can play. I have 1 who is 21/2 boy and I watch 2 others who are 2(girl) and 4(boy). I have two other girlfriends who have children as well. We can try to get together. Hope to hear from you soon.

It's an international group with local sub-chapters. I haven't joined the group yet, but am going to!

Don't know that area, but I would ask one of the moms at the toddler group at the library. Other SAHMs are a great resource, and if they've been home longer, they can tell you about places that you probably have ignored for some time. Also, I'd try some of the area retail stores, like Barnes & Noble or Borders. They also offer storytime. Also, when the weather changes, you'll have a ball when you take your boys to the playground or area state park. That's always a great outing for boys. And, if there really is nothing in your area, you might want to offer playdates with any of your friends who also have children your sons' ages. Also, visit http://www.washcova.com/wps/portal/welcome for more information about the county, so you can see all of the local towns around you. There's a lot of history in that area, and there's always a lot of homeschool classes available focusing on history reenactments. Abingdon seems like the biggest town in your area, and you might find more activities there and plan daytrips once or twice a month to break up the storytime dates until the weather breaks. When the weather breaks, you might benefit by planning hikes in the beautiful trails, bike riding, skating, etc. If you have access to a military base, there's usually a bowling alley on post and movie theatre, which might be interesting to your boys. Not sure how far you live from Tennessee, but saw this link and thought you might be interested: http://www.handsonmuseum.org/

Look up MOPS (Mother's Of PreSchoolers)! www.mops.org/ It is a great organization and they usually have several listed for each area. Depending how big of a town you live in. It is a church based group, but you don't have to be a church goer to participate. Its great to meet some other moms and if you are a Christian, then that is just an added bonus! They also provide free childcare and that gives the kids a chance to interact and do things w/the other kids. They do projects/crafts at mine and play games. Good luck!

I have a friend who loves MOP's group meetings with her little girl. They usually meet in a church building and have lunch together or heavy snacks that everyone brings. They have guest speakers often and they have people to watch all of the little ones. The little ones get to do arts and crafts together and sing songs and play, play, play! LOL I'm sure you could look them up on line for one closest to you.

Happy New Year!
