Dr. Sharon Dennis at Arlington Family Practice respects you decision as a parent to vaccinate or not. She is GREAT! We do not vaccinate either and she is supportive!
i live in fort worth and am having the hardest time finding a pediatrician for my 4 month old son who would be willing to see him and support our decision to not vaccinate right now. ideally we could find a md in this area, but we'd be willing to drive a little bit to see the right person. does anyone know of a great pediatrician who feels this way about vaccines in fort worth? it seems they are like needles in a haystack!! thanks!

I take my dd to Dr. Deitchman with CookChildren's, unfortunately he is probably a little too far for you. He is in Hurst, ###-###-#### and he is so great. I am moving soon and just dread changing Pedi's. He has been so wonderful, no demands with my dd's vaccination schedule, he was told once that we won't start her until 2 yrs of age and he hasn't blinked an eye, just had me sign the paperwork stating that I wasn't vaccinating.
Dr, McCoy in grapevine. Not sure of the number.
I would look down at Hugley in Burleson or in Alvarado, Cleburne or Keene. Seventh Day Adventists tend to be more open to non-traditional or more natural ways of doing things. Or call the college at Keene and ask their nursing school folks.
Dr. Sharon Dennis,D.O. will be fine with it. She won't even look at you sideways if you tell her you don't want to vax. She is not a pediatrician though. She is a family practice doc. We do use her as our 5yr old and 15 month olds' dr. though. I believe their practice is getting pretty popular so it may take several weeks to get in as a new patient.
She is in Arlington on Matlock, just south of ARkansas. I believe the group is called ARlington Family Practice.
Check out the dr. sears web site. They have vaccination info as well as a list of vaccination friendly doctors.
PARENTS magazine July 2008 edition has an article for "The Worried Mom's Guide to Baby Vaccine's" I found it very informative. You might want to read it too. Good luck.
Dr. Sharon Dennis in Arlington is really great. She is former midwife and is actually knowledgable about both conventional medicine and natural health. She really doesn't push vaccines at all.
G.,
You can find the best pediatricians at:
My husband and I have chosen not to vaccinate our children and we believe it was the best decision we could possibly make.

I would also recommend checking out Dr. Sears website. He has two Drs in fort worth listed. I would not suggest the Parents Mag article as it is totally a biased view and absolutely, no exception, a pro-vacciation article. I would recommend Sears book or What your doctor doesnt tell you about childhood vaccinations...they gives you a balanced approach to vaccinating in a common sense, educated way! Don't cave into any pressure to vaccinate on the AAP schedule. Follow your gut instinct!
Dr Mary C Brennan in SW Fort Worth is willing to support your decision not to vaccinate. She still gives us the "lecture" from time to time but is easy going. She is with the Cook Children's group. Our son is 22 months now and we haven't had to take him to anything except well baby visits. We are holding off on vaccines until he is at least five and maybe longer. Her number is ###-###-####. Good Luck!!!
Dr. Deborah Vert has been very supportive of our decision to selectively vax. I dont know her postion regarding no-vax but she is great and in Ft. Worth off Trail Lake and I-20.
Dr. Sarah Matches in Fort Worth. She just makes me sign a paper that I don't want the shots and thats it she doesn't preach.
Dr. Craig Kneten ###-###-####. He does want you to do vaccines but does not make you adhere to the time table if you can give good solid researched reasons why, which I am sure you can do if you are having a hard time finding someone. We did not give the chicken pox shot until the summer before second grade and he was fine with that. He is a great doctor as well.
