I have a 3 year old son that needs a little speech therapy. Our pediatrician says to go through our school district (which I'm in the process of doing) but in the meantime I'm interested in any local therapists and/or classes/groups. We're in Santa Monica, any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I highly recommend Julia Hobbs Speech Pathology on the west side
There is no better speech person than Tova Goldberg, ###-###-####. She's located in Beverly Hills.
Check out Therapy West (therapywest.org). We used them extensively for PT and OT and they are phenomenal. They have speech therapy, also, but speech was our issue, so I can't speak to the specifics.
With a three year old, you might be able to access services through Westside Regional Center (www.westsiderc.org). They covered our early services. I thought we didn't approach the school district until we were four, but those years are a blur and I could be wrong. =-)
Our Speech Pathologist is GREAT! Her name is Jennifer Arce ###-###-####. Just don't know if she travels that far. She may know of someone in the area though.
Good luck!
About four month ago we started our speech therapy with my three year old daughter. So far we are very happy with the outcome.
We are going to Erin Kayam at Milestone Therapeutic Services in Play Del Rey. My daughter loves her and always longs for her sessions, that's a good start because at least it makes it easy for Erin to work with her talking.

We tried to go through the school district but my daughters speech delay wasn't "bad" enough to get any free help from them. At least we did a speech and visual audio assessments with them.
Good Luck

While I'm sure your pediatrician means well, the last thing the school district feels like paying for is speech therapy for a child not yet in their system. A great resource on the Westside is the Child Success Center in Santa Monica, for all kinds of educational therapy, occupational and speech therapy. They will do a thorough assessment. Feel free to let them know that I referred you (S. Eiges, L.A. School Scout). http://www.childsuccesscenter.com/.
