Santa Monica college on Pico and 16th Street has a warm pool and it is fairly inexpensive to get a season pass. Very nice, clean new facilities. They have a good website with classes and times and how to sign up. Good Luck!
I'm looking for swim lessons in the westside area (i.e. Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Santa Monica) for my 4 year old daughter who has had swim lessons in the past. We have moved from San Francisco and would prefer a facility with a warm pool and warm patient instructors. Any suggestions?
Thanks to everyone who responded to me. It was a nice suprise, since it was my first request since I joined, to get such rapid responses. I decided to go with swim lessons at the JCC, the smart fish method, since it's so close and I was attracted to their philosophy. Once again, Thanks!

I highly recommend the Lenny Krazelberg swim school. It is located at the Westside Jewish Community Center on Olympic just east of Fairfax, but you don't have to be a member there to take swim classes.
They have two pools - one for the older kids and one for the younger that is more shallow and more importantly more warm than the other. The instructors are wonderful and they have little bitty ones swimming on their own in no time - I'm continually amazed when I go there.
My 3-year-old son has gone there for 2 lessons now (we also took a mommy and me class when he was 1 year old) and he loves it. They have both private and group lessons.
You should try www.clubswim.com. It is how I found our swim instructors. They can either come to your house, or you can find a facility that offers instruction.
Hope this helps! Good luck!
Hi N.,
Have you looked into the YMCA in Santa Monica,CA. It's on 6th Street, corner of Santa Monica Blvd. They have swiming lessons for all age groups (beautiful olympic size pool too). My daughter went there, when she was small and absolutely loved it. Not only is affordable, but they have very warm and careing instructors. Check it out, she might just love it.
Take care,
D
Lenny Krayzelberg Swim Academy at the Westside JCC! Awesome!!!
i'm in the beverlywood area (near beverly hills). i'm not sure if that is too far for you but there are swim lessons at the JCC on olympic - the krazelberg swim school which may also have other locations (http://www.lennykswim.com/) and beverylwood swim school on robertson (http://www.swimbss.com/home.html). both have excellent reputations.
i know there is a public pool at aiden's place - the park on sepulveda(?) north of santa monica. perhaps they do swim lessons there as well.
I don't know about the warm pool, but we had a very good experience with the Lenny Krayzelburg swim school http://www.lennykswim.com/. They use the smart fish method.

Try your local YMCA. They are great. Most, if not all have indoor pools, because they offer year-round swimming lessons and Aquatic programs. You can also refer to their website to find one in ur area. Hope that helps. They have 2 types of memberships to choose from and offer fianacial assistance. You can not go wrong with them! Good luck!
Hi N.,
Check out Australian Swim School. I went to their valley location - not sure if they have a west side location. They were very good.

Hi N.
I live in West LA. I would suggest Beverlywood Swim School on Robertson. Great place and very warm pool. Also, they let you go anytime during the week to come practice in their open pool which is nice and also, gives you the option of having an activity with your daughter. Also, the YMCAs have great swim programs too. I have friends that went to the West Los Angeles one. Last suggestion, Santa Monica College also offers swim classes, not sure what age they start.
Good Luck

Hi N.,
I'm not sure how often Deb Feldman does swim lessons, but have seen her work with kids and she is incredible. If you email her and let her know that Tom Stanley and I recommend you to her, she can let you know her schedule - she is truly gifted. Here is some information about her and her email address:
Deb Feldman has truly been swimming all her life. Shortly after joining the triathlon club over 5 years ago, Deb saw the need for good swim coaches and within two years, started her own business, Swim With Deb. Among a long list of swim competitions and triathlons, sprint and Ironman alike, Deb is most proud of the 200 + swimmers she has trained over her years as a coach. Combining her knowledge and love of the sport, Deb also engages the mindset of each student. Embracing the idea that ones attitude plays as great a role in success and growth as pure physical effort, she is confident that her approach that will keep the pools of LA full of rockstar swimmers!

My daughter LOVES her swim school. We go to the Lenny Krayzelburg (Lenny K) Swim School at the Westside Jewish Community Center (Near San Vicente and Olympic). The teachers are wonderful and it's an indoor pool -- heated. I can't reccommend it highly enough! GREAT Teachers, so kind and caring.
I have a 3 1/2 yr old and we are about to start a class in Santa Monica. We have four other kids and we could use one more. Please call me ay (415)316652

Check out Conrad Cooper at swimtome.com. He's a lovely person and a very skilled swim instructor. He's not in W. L.A., but soo worth the drive!!!
My son is deathly afraid of the water but we put him in lessons at the Santa MOnica YMCA. The instructor (Hector) was great and even though the lessons were not private, there were only 4 kids in the class (a lifeguard sat with the kids not swimming with Hector). The pool is warm and kept clean.
My neighbor used Splash Zone swim school and loved it. It covers the exact areas you are looking for to do private lessons in your pool or you can go to their facility in Marina Del Rey. THere is a male coach Eddie ###-###-#### or a female Ashley ###-###-####.
Good luck!
Check out the Hollywood YMCA. They've just started registration. They're great teaching infants from 6 months to adults. They're address is 1553 Schrader Blvd, Hollywood, CA 90028.
