I live on a property divided by county and school district lines, since I pay taxes to both school districts, do I get to choose which district my child attends?

What can I do next?

sounds like you are in similar situation as me. If so, the answer is no. Are you sure you are paying SCHOOL taxes in both counties? We pay school taxes for our city, but only pay hospital and community college tax for the other county (Dallas).

When we were searching for a new home about 5 years ago, we looked at a house that sat on property that was about 60% Carroll ISD and 40% Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. We were told that since we would have to pay taxes to both school districts, we would be able to choose which ISD we wanted our child to go to. We didn't buy that house, but that was the info we were given.

I would just call the school tax offices and verify to be sure.

Blessings,
N.

Pull out your tax bill and see what ISD receives your school taxes-that is where your child should attend. If your property is huge and expands over more than one district, you might get to choose, but I think it is based on what district your physical address is in. In Arkansas, we have 40 acres (purchased in 2 transactions) that fall in the different counties and in different school districts. Since we don't live there, it is not an issue of what school to attend, but we do pay school taxes in two ISD's (based on the property that falls in their district).
However, your situation may be more like others have suggested. example: you live in Arlington but pay taxes to Mansfield ISD or you live in Grand Prairie and pay taxes to Arlington ISD.

The Arlington/Mansfield/Grand Prairie area seems to be merging more and more. We live in South Arlington, but pay Mansfield school taxes so our kids are in the Mansfield ISD. We pay Arlington city taxes, though. It will just take an easy phone call to the city tax office and they should be able to answer all of your questions.
