Might be hard depending on how many times you've tried to get it out with the regular washer/dryer.

If the stain is on light clothing -- Try saturating the stain with real lemon. Rub some salt in there for good measure and laid it out in bright sunlight. If the fabric is dark, this won't work because it acts a bit like bleach.

Otherwise, try regular old rust remover (something from a hardware store). If the shirts a write off, it can't hurt to give something strong a try.

If it were me, I'd try washing it in hot water with a little Dawn dishsoap. I've never had a rust stain, but for all the stains I've dealt with it always works. Good luck!

Prespot should get it out. I just used in on my daughters pants after she played in daddy's engine oil receptacle. Prespot has gotten out old stains too, even after the clothes have been through the dryer. My fall back plan is always SOL-U-MEL. It’s a mother’s dream!! It gets tough stains out of EVERYTHING! It took out permanent marker from our couch upholstery and I recently used it to get old stains from our carpet. It took crayon off the wall in one swipe! Amazing!!!
