I was wondering how they worked, I have tons of beautiful items my daughter hardly used an wanted to find a place where i could give them stuff in return like a in store credit to buy something else she could use. I have a pack n play & matching swing set she used twice her 450 dollar crib she hates an only slept in 3 times in 21 month. I would rather see someone at least get some use out of it.

What can I do next?

I've used this resale shop many times and have been completely satisfied. I'm sure you'll be happy with them as well.

I consigned clothing there only one time about a year ago, so my mind is a little fuzzy. To start, call and ask if you need an appointment to drop off the items you have. I know you need an appointment to drop off clothing, but I'm not sure about large items. You will sign an agreement/contract that states your payout (I don't remember if it is 50/50 or 60/40). Prices on clothing items are reduced by a certain percentage every month. I assume that is the case for large items as well. They will cut you a check for your payout, but you must do it by a certain deadline each month. You can also choose the store credit option. If your items don't sell you will need to go and find your items and pick them up before you contract ends (contract is 3 or 4 months). Otherwise they will be donated. I think there is information on their website - sample contract, guidelines, etc.

If this option doesn't work out for you, you might want to consider Snuggle Bugs. They hold a consignment event 2 times a year. The next one should be in March, location to be determined, but in the past they have been at Great Southern Shopping Center in Bridgeville and Century III Mall. They have a ton of info on their website. www.snugglebugsconsignment.com

I second Lisa T's suggestion about Snugglebugs. I unloaded all of my big items (crib, pack and play, swing, high chair)through them. I did call Once Upon a Child first and what they would have given me was ridiculous!! What is nice about Snugglebugs is you set your prices and you get to keep 70% if you work one 3 hour volunteer shift (otherwise it is 60%).

H.,
I went there once with tons of shoes, clothes etc. and after realizing that they cut you a check (I think it's 50/50) AFTER an item sells. The idea of getting 5 or 6 dollar check every once in a while didn't appeal to me and that's when I started ebaying--and I never looked back! I'm not knocking them but it was just not what I was after. Yes--you do need to remember/pick up your items after the set amount of time or sign an agreement that they will "donate" them at that time. You do need an appointment when you are taking stuff in. Once Upon A Child pays you right when you take the stuff in...I used the O. in Monroeville once. You need an appointment there as well. Good luck!
