On Saturday morning, I noticed this bright red strip on my daughter's ankle. It looks like a flat red rash. I've been keeping a close eye on it; she has not had a fever, and the redness has not spread anywhere else, but its still there! AND, it doesn't even seem to be bothering her, even when touched. I did notice the socks she was wearing Friday night, were a little tight, but not anything too tight that would cut circulation. I also figured, if it WAS from the socks that either the other ankle would be the same, and/or, the redness would be gone by now. My mother suggested putting Neosporan on it, but that didn't do anything.
If this doesn't go away, or get better by this evening, I plan on calling the dr., but in the meantime, can anyone offer advice to me?
My son had the same thing happen from a pair of socks that seemed a little tight. It was red and slightly dry, and it ended up leaving a scar. I think his skin was sensitive to something in the sock material too, so I threw that pair out and he hasn't had any problems like that since.
Do you think it could be excema. My daughter gets it and we need to use a Rx on her to take care of it. I took her in with it because I didn't want an unknown rash to go undiagnosed in a young child, it could be a sign of something serious, although it is most likely just excema. Good Luck
I would just call the doctor. If she is under 1 then I dont think you can use Neosporan, you would have to call the doctor anyway to see if you could put that on her. I am sure that it is nothing, but you will feel better once a doctor sees it. Good luck.
My son gets something similar on the back of one of his knees if we forget to lotion him up after bath time (really more like if he wont be still long enough for us to catch him). It might just be dry skin...
could it be a birth mark??
