Hello Ladies,

I am scheduled to undergo breast augmentation surgery soon and am getting nervous about the recovery process. I was wondering if anyone could share their experience with me, particularly if they had this surgery done while their children were still young. Thanks in advance!

the first couple days are the hardest but you're on so many pain meds that you won't remember..you might want to rent a hospital bed..makes it so much easier to get in and out of bed...that's the hardest part..then you're not supposed to lift your arms for 2 weeks..i had an augmentation in 95 then again in 2000..my friend has the best boob job ..i want to go to her doc when i swap these out..i thought her's were real til she just told me the other day they're not!
do u have a doc? i can ask her the name of her's..she went under the muscle..has saline and they feel soft..i had saline originally but swapped them w/ silicon ..and they're way softer but i didn't go under the muscle..
the under the muscle ones are softer..but hurt more..but it will all blow by so fast ...don't fret about it...you'll be healed before you know it

I am not sure about the recovery time. Please make sure your doctor is good. My friend had hers done and you can't tell. She had a very good doctor.

It will be very difficult to lift up anything after surgery -- so don't plan on picking up your children for a couple of weeks. Make sure you have help especially after the first week with the kids.

Hi A. and congrats on your decision!

You may not feel that way for a week or two, but after that! You'll be so happy!

I went from an A to a D, silicone, under the muscle. I love them. I finally have a womanly, hourglass figure and am "perky" :)

Recovery is NOT fun for the first week. I'm not sure which you're doing - over's or under's - but from what I've heard and read, recovery from the under's surgery is a lot harder. You'll feel tight - like an elephant is sitting on your chest. I suppose it makes a difference too what size you're starting out at and what size you're going to.

My one MAJOR suggestion, ICE, ICE, ICE. From the second you get home. This will keep the swelling and the pain down. I used big bags of frozen veggies, I had like 10 in the freezer. I would pile 3 or 4 on me at a time. I kept them on 24-7. My doc said it helped me heal much quicker. I had really limited bruising. I can't stress it enough. Take it EASY and ICE those new girls!

You're going to need someone there with you to help with everything. Like Debra said you really shouldn't lift your arms, and trust me, you're not going to want to, but you'll be suprised how often you normally do this throughout the day.. so having someone there to lend a hand for the first couple days is important.

I took herbal supplements to help the healing process: Arnica, quercetin, milk thistle, jeeze, I can't remember them all.

Visually .. don't freak the first time you see them! They're going to be HIGH and FIRM .. they'll settle down :) You'll be bruised, swollen .. not too pretty .. don't worry, it will pass!

I've had mine for almost a year, and they are SO different now than the first few months. I just love them (and my husband doesn't mind them at all either ;)!

Good luck!
W.

Hi,
Do not worry you will be all right! Maybe few days you will not be able to pick things up, but you will enjoy your breasts! I had it done few years ago and had little pain.

I had mine done 11 years ago, before kids. But, my recovery was very painful the first week and mildly painful for about 2 weeks. I was back to work after week 1. Then just very tired.
You will NOT be able to lift anything.
I just had my second breast implant surgery 1 year ago. IMplants replaced from saline to silicon b/c after breast feeding 2 kids, my breast were lopsided. My second surgey did not hurt at all. Probably b/c I was already stretch out.
But, also they do use a numbing agent that they put inside (I believe) that helps reduce the pain.

Good luck! you will be so happy when the pain is gone and you look fabulous!

My kids were young when I had mine done, so I had my sisters come and help me for a couple of weeks. One helped me and the other took care of the kids. I did both an augmentation and a tummy tuck so I needed a little more help, but I'm sure you could get away with some extra help for at least a week. I would just see if anyone can come help out. I was just able to drive 2 wks after surgery when my sisters left.
