Hi moms - we're going to purchase a set of toddler chairs and table for my two-year-old son. We'd like something that is solid wood and that he can use for several years. Does anyone have a suggestion as to brand? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I got my daughers from Land of Nod. I love it b/c it has storage under the table so we keep all of her coloring books and crayons in there.

I love my Pottery Barn farm table. It has a cut out in the middle where It is recessed and I put little buckets of pens, crayons and markers. I don't see that they sell it anymore on their site but it has been a really sturdy table that has worked out great. I am sure any of the Pottery Barn Tables will last your little ones wear and tear. Another great option is Land of Nod. Check out their online sites as each company has some unique features.

This was the one I liked from Land of Nod, great storage!

We bought the kidcraft avalon set with two extra chairs. I have had it for about 2 months. very happy! Solid rubber wood (Eco friendly) and the hardware is brass, not plastic! Holds up to 200 lbs, so we can use it for extra chairs when we have company. The recommend age us 5-8, but my 2 yo (small for his age) can sit fine in it. He sits on a book now, but does not really need to. It fits with our "grown up" furniture just fine. I found A LOT of different price ranges for the same set. Spend some time internet shopping. We ended up paying ~$250 w free shipping. Saw the same set for a lot more in other sites! Good luck!

We've had our IKEA childrens table and chairs for a year and a half and the chairs are falling apart. Our 1 and 3 year old use them daily for play and eating in our kitchen. Over time the backing has popped off and the screws on the underside have fallen out. We have repaired them time after time but if we were to buy another I would most likely go with a higher quality PotteryBarnKids or Land of Nod.

Will you be using it in your dining room or will it be in a playroom? The reason I ask is because if its in a play room, it will likely get banged up pretty good, solid wood or not. Ours was used in a playroom for our three boys- just a folding type with primary colors to match the decor. It lasted three years and is actually still used in our backyard now for them to play with. But if you are wanting something more for the dining room then wood would probably look nicer- I don't know about brands though. Do keep in mind that it wont be long before he will just be able to sit at the "big table" to do everything. Our sons are 6, 4, and 2 and they do all their homework, coloring, and crafts just fine on our kitchen table. Good luck with your search!

We have a set from Pottery Barn Kids that I LOVE...We got them when my son was one, he's now five and they are in great condition. There are no silly characters on them either, so they've adapted well with his room and interests and he's grown and changed. Very durable, the adults can sit on the chairs just fine. Definitely a good purchase!

We purchased the KidKraft wood table and chairs set when my first child was about 2. Five years and another kid later, it still looks great! It has held up really well. It comes in lots of colors/finishes, so it is easy to find one that fits with your decor.

We are not much of a Toys R Us family (we prefer to shop locally and avoid big box stores). That being said, my husband did find a nice wooden toddler size table and chair set there last year. What we love the best about it is that the seats, while small, can still fit adult sized butts without being uncomfortable. A friend loved ours so much she bought a set for her family. I know they still have it and I also saw recently that they also sell a wooden trunk that matches. I think the table and two chair set goes for about $75-$100. Good luck!
