Hi Moms,

My husband is considering a vasectomy as we are done having kids. Does anyone have any recommendations for urologists in the Central Ohio area?

Any advice from your husbands or from you as to what to do to make the process easier? I've heard there is a laser surgery option as well. Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

My DH is scheduled for Friday (yay!!!) We are seeing a Dr. recommended by my OB, I'd check with yours. Best part is we only have a copay because it's "in office". No more pills, patches or rings! I consider it a small price for him to pay after birthing three 9+ pound babies (my first was 10)! Whatever you decided, be sure to do the follow up to make sure you're in the clear. I have a few friends that didn't and ended up with a surprise baby=) We were told to have him take it easy thru the weekend, no heavy lifting, Ibuprofin and frozen peas and wear a J strap for the weekend. Hope this helps!

My husband was sore for a week because he opted to not ice it, whereas a friend's husband was fine in a day because he iced right away.

I'm from NE Ohio, so I do not have a recommendation on a dr. We did get the name of a dr. from my OBGYN. My hubby had the procedure done a few years ago. He didn't have many issues because he did what the dr. said. Of course he was sore for a bit, as to be expected, but nothing too terrible. He was nervous b/c his brother had a horrible time of it. Turns out he didn't listen to what the dr. said (i.e. ice it, wear a jock strap, etc.). Make sure he listens to the dr. & the pain won't last as long or be too terrible.

no advice on doctors, but the surgery really isn't a big deal. If your DH is nervous they can give him medication to help calm him, and it's over before you know it. Even the recovery generally isn't that bad, he'll be sore for a few days but that's about it.
