All free and clear is my favorite. I'd also suggest using Aquaphore (by Eucerin) it comes in a white jar with a blue lid. Its a thick ointment and the only thing to keep my baby from cracking and bleeding this time of year!
My 2 yr old (27 months) just started using the potty aprx 2 weeks ago.. Well a couple days ago I noticed that she has a rash all over her butt cheeks. I emailed the Doctor a picture and she says its just a form of dermatitis and to keep it lubricated with a thick cream. I've been doing that and it still looks pretty bad. This happen to anyone else shortly after potty training? I'm assuming it might have something to do with that area getting use to wearing underwear after being in a diaper for 2 years? Maybe i need to switch to free of dyes/perfume type detergents and softener?
Thanks mommys
Interesting about the clorox wipes, i DO use them to clean the toliet seat (the regular toliet and her little insert for it) every day! Yikes.. I'll stop that. Whats something else good to use to clean the insert that she uses that keeps it sanitary, but not irritating for her?
Another thing is it looks like I probably need to start using the free n clear detergents since all 3 of my girls seem to have sensitive skin.
And No, she does not use pull ups at night. So far only 1 pee accident at night in over 2 weeks...I just keep one of those waterproof pads under her. So far so good (yay)..
Thanks Mommys... But keep the comments/suggestions coming :)

If you are using something strong like a chlorox wipe to clean the potty seat, something like that could happen. If you do something like that, make sure its rinsed with water afterward.
does she use pull ups at night? Goodnight pullups (and even other brands of pull ups) give my daughter a really bad rash.
my son's butt cheeks has something simmilar too! It looks a bit dry and red, I have recently started double rinsing the wash with his undies hopeing to see an improvement soon.
The same happened with my son and it was because I was using the clorox wipes. The daycare made the suggestion and now when I use the wipes I just rinse the seat after in the tub after and his behind hasn't been red since.
Yes. The toxins in the dyes/ perfumes, detergents can and will def. do that.
I switched to all natural products for my kids because my kids have very sensitive skin...for wiping off things such as the potty I also use all natural sanitizing wipes and cleaners as well (without the clorox bleach or toxins).
The company I use doesn't sell their products in their stores, I order online, but they products are better quality than Senveth Generation or other green products in the store....they have excellent quality....its not expensive (especially for this horrible economy), .and they work. They have an incredible anti itch, anti fungal cream with a pharmaceutical grade of tea tree oil. Just used it on my daughter tonight. :) Coconut oil works great on irritated skin as well. Anyhow, here is the website to get more info on these great products http://betterhealthinfo.net/gogetinfo
Shes probably not cleaning her butt well. Wash her butt and then lather it with lots of petroleum jelly and leave it like that for a night.
Hopefully this will help.
My son had a similar reaction after he was fully potty trained. During potty training, it didn't happen, but I believe that it was due to him not wearing them all day. It took me three weeks and multiple brands, colors, and looking at what country the undies were from to determine the problem. The problem I found was the dye & color in the pictures of the characters on the undies. The undies that had a full picture all over them, the dye was giving him the rash. The ones that had just a sprinkling of pictures on them seemed to be okay. But rather than taking any chances (he was SO uncomfortable with his itchy tush :( poor guy) that I switched him to full white undies. It's heartbreaking to tell my little boy that no he can't wear Buzz Lightyear undies, but I tell him it's because he's so so very big that he gets to wear white undies like grown up boys do. He has a few pairs with the characters only here and there on them so on days when he just really wants to wear a cartoon on his undies, we have those that are okay for a day. :) In the meantime, I took him to the doctor and they gave me a cream for the rash that using it a few times a day for a few days cleared it up quickly. Good luck. P. S. I also only use free and clear laundry detergents, no fabric softeners, and free and clear dryer sheets as my son has eczema and very very sensitive skin to perfumes and dyes in laundry soap.
I still use diaper cream on my 4 year old occasionally. I like the Balmex daily protectant since it is clear and doesn't stain clothes.
My Daughter is going to be 2 in April and has been potty training for about a week and a half. I put her in a pull up at night. I noticed that her butt checks are getting very dry and red. So I put the blue lid aquaphor on her but she acts like it burns when I put it on her. Im not sure if its the pull ups or the underwear that is making her butt beak out. I have always used the same detergent to wash clothes with so I don't know..
