Rare Time for Period??? Is This Normal?

My husband and I have been trying to conceive baby #3 since the end of February. I have had my regular periods from February to April...each being within a day of each other. This month, I started spotting 2 weeks before I was to start. It started out as light spotting and after the 2nd day, was a regular bleed for about 2 days. It stopped for a day and then started up again for another 4 days? Is this normal? I had been on birth control, but stopped in February. Any comments?

What can I do next?

Your body had a nice, steady, predictable stream of hormones for a while then was cut off and your brain took over control of hormone secretion. That could explain why your period is a little funky this time. However, since it is different than normal AND you're trying to conceive, you may wish to make an appointment with your ob/gyn. Other things to consider that could affect a cycle - are you under a lot of stress, did you/do you have a cold, are you taking any other medication particularly antibiotics, do you smoke?

It can anywhere from 6-12 months to become regular after stopping taking birth control. I would say it's nothing to worry about, just keep track for purposes of conception dates. Happy trying!

Hi K.,

Your body changes after being on birth control...I would wait 6 mos to a year before starting to conceive...so that anything left in your system from taking birth control has time to completely leave your body. This will also give your body time to regulate itself. I will suggest that if you or your husband carry a cell phone not to carry it in your pocket or on your hip. Infertility & testicular cancer are high risks due to the radiation coming from the cell phone. Also, do not let your children play with them. For more information on this visit: www.emfhealthsolutions.com - check out "The Invisible Dangers of EMF Radiation." There are some other good videos & audios to check out if you have time. My friend's who care about me told me about this company that makes products that help protect you from harmful effects of radiation. If you are interested, email me at ____@____.com and I will give you more information.

hi K.,

you might want to check and make sure you aren't pregnant. i had an irregular period after becoming pregnant with baby #3. the dr's at the time, went with that being my last regular period, and along with an ultrasound, decided my due date was may 2 (1988). i had him april 20th, and was told he was almost a month over-due!! needless to say, i about died! he had several over-due symptoms(but didn't realize it was things pointed to being over-due), even to my eyes, that i had not seen with the other kids(never over-due with the others). i pointed these things out to a nursery nurse right away, and she says, honey, didn't anyone tell you your baby was over-due?? i said, "WHAT??"!!!! so by the time i had left the hospital, there were a total of 3 nurses, and i forget how many different "over-due characteristics, etc" that they had went by to tell me he was seriously almost a month over-due! i know ultrasounds have changed greatly since then, but i have never trusted one since, in deciding my due date. (i had 2 more after #3)

so anyway, keep in mind that it might be a possibility you might already be pregnant! and best wishes, and best of luck!

Have you taken a test to see if it could be break through bleeding? Or did you have regular periods off birth control before? When I first went off the pill my periods stayed regular like on the pill for a few months and then went back to all screwy the way i have normally been off birth control. Two possiblities but best of luck to you.
