Random Crying at Six Months

My daughter is going to be six months in two days. A few days ago she started randomly crying for what seems like no reason. She was fed, changed and playing in the floor then just started screaming like something had hurt her. We picked her up and checked her clothes, toys, and the floor and could not find anything. Then again last night it was time to feed her she was in her walker and i put her bid on and she did the same thing again we checked and again we found nothing. There are more examples of her doing this. So could there be something wrong with her or is she just crying to cry?

What can I do next?

Has she been touching her ear(s) a lot? Maybe she has an ear infection? Could have a tooth that is just starting to break through that you can't quite feel or see. I will tell you though, my son got a lot of ear infections when he was teething too. So could be either or both! Good luck!!

Because she does not have the ability to talk, she is crying. You are doing all of the right things.. From now on give her a few minutes, then check her..
Do your checks as you have and also consider..

Teething
Wants to be in a different position
Can't see what is going on
Over stimulated
just needs a good cry to get rid of energy..
too warm, too cold

My babies started getting tired more easily when they were that age because they were more active during play time. They cried when they were tired even though sometimes they fought sleep.,

Sounds like just crying to cry.....but basically letting you know she wants you to fiddle with her some?
Do always make sure her diaper isnt pinching and tags arent poking... you know how annoying that type of thing is for adults. A crumb in your bra can make you crazy, just keep that in mind. That's what I always looked for when my kids seemed to cry for not good reason to me... wardrobe malfunctions :)

My son did this during teething. Offer her a cold washcloth, or cold teething toys.

Parents have given some wonderful suggestions about what might be going on - including nothing! I'd like to add, if it continues take her to the pediatrician to check for ear or throat infection, and discuss possible allergies, her diet, possible acid reflux, and possible food sensitivities. If the baby screams for an extended period as if in pain, she really might be in pain. My baby did this and the doctor said it was normal, but she never saw it. When my parents did they were aghast because it was not normal stuff - it was pain. We can tell the difference, I think. If you think it is pain, it probably is. That doesn't mean the pediatrician can easily figure it out. At two she was diagnosed with migraines. Who ever knew a baby or toddler could have migraines!? I sure didn't. But it gets even more complicated because migraines can be from allergies and food sensivities, or from other conditions.

So mostly what I am saying is IF you think this really is screams of pain, get it checked out.

my guess would be ear infection or teething. take her to the doctor to rule out ear infection

my dd did this at ten weeks. exact same senario-- would be laying on the floor happily when BAM! sudden crying jag. It lasted a couple of weeks and she quit. Hope she doesn't do a repeat performance-- she'll be six months on Tuesday. : )

I remember my brother crying like this, the doctor finally figured out that he had numerous cavities, caused from going to bed with a bottle combined with no enamel on his teeth (he was premie), once we got that problem fixed the crying stopped. If she does not have teeth yet it could be teething pain.

My son has just started to do this. I do the same thing you do, check for all the plausible reason ( hungry, cold, is something pinching him etc) for why he is crying. My child isn't sick, I'm pretty sure this it is just a phase. My daughter did it around the same stage. But if it continues, always mention it to your doctor.
