Quick Drying Towels

Need to replace our bath and face towels and would like to get ones which dry quickly. Any tips on what to look for when I buy them? Fluffy, soft, and luxurious are lower on the priority list. We have a small bathroom with only a window for ventilation (can’t be improved). I don’t want towels which smell of damp.

Thanks much
F. B.

I also had JcPenney quick dry towels. They really do dry pretty quick. With 7 people in the house, the last thing I need is a bunch of towels stinking up the bathroom. Especially since my younger kids like to throw them on the floor or just into the basket. We throw the towel over the shower bar to dry and no problems. We don't have a fan in the bathroom and a block glass window with just a 4 x 8 slit so not much circulation in there.

Are you near an IKEA? I love their 100% cotton, ribbed/textured towels (I can't stand thick, poly, fluffy towels that often just rub the water around rather than absorbing it, what's the point?!) Besides drying quickly they have a loop so you can easily hang them on a hook rather than a bar, which as you know is great for small spaces.

JC Penney quick drying towels! They’re like $6 and the only ones we use (for years now). I have a “shower closet” in the master bath and the air doesn’t circulate unless the A/C turns on. The towels dry so quickly and there’s many colors to choose from. My kids, who share a bathroom, also use the towels - their towels hang behind the door. Never had issues with them smelling damp.

I have heard good things about the LL Bean organic textured cotton towels. Not thick but supposed to dry quickly.

I would recommend buying one hand towel or something, and giving it a go - before buying an entire set.

I think any towels you get will have similar issues.
The thing that dries towels is dry air - so if your bathroom fan isn't moving moist air out of your bathroom - towels will take awhile to dry - and will smell musty fairly quickly.
Some people just pop their towels into the dryer to dry after using them, then wash/dry them once a week.

I love bamboo fiber towels - quick drying and very soft too.

Consumers Report says Target brand is best for cheaper. I agree. They go on sale often, last long, dry fast. Enjoy.
