never done it before and have an order I need for $200 worth of felt die cut shapes. After finding everything I needed I noticed it will be coming from Latvia. This makes me nervous. This is not for personal use its for VBS and I would hate for something to go wrong . So just wanting to know what you all think. Do the vendors tend to be legit?

What can I do next?

I've had only positive experiences with etsy (I'm a seller too, look at my profile for the link!) but I have only placed orders from within the US.
How does the seller's feedback look? If there have been lots of sales and it's all positive then it's probably a safe bet.

I've had good luck, even with things coming from as far as Israel. Like eBay, the vendors do NOT want poor reviews, so they tend to be very accommodating and helpful, even if things aren't right. Honestly, though, I've never been disappointed w/anything I bought. Ask a lot of questions about the product so you can be sure of what you're getting. Also, if something isn't what you were told, you have the conversation documented/saved in your etsy inbox.

Good luck and happy shopping! LOVE etsy!

I've been ordering from etsy for years! I've only had 1 problem with someone who didn't ship me what I ordered. I reported her and got my money back. I love etsy! Just check out the reviews for who you are ordering from and make sure they are all 100% positive.

I sell on Etsy, and I also buy from the other sellers there. If you are concerned about purchasing from a particular buyer, take a look at their Feedback. If it's laden with negatives, that would be cause for concern. Otherwise, you should be just fine.

I would imagine that a successful Etsy seller from Latvia would have mostly international shipments, and should be well experienced about how to handle your purchase. Etsy sellers are usually really great at communciating with their buyers, so send her a "convo" (Etsy's email system) if you have any questions or concerns before you place your order.

Good luck! (and thanks for supporting Etsy sellers and buying handmade!)

I have never had a problem buying on Etsy, even when the merchandise comes from another country. I have bought items from Canada, Austria & India without any problems. Check the seller's feedback ratings. I think that most of the vendors are legit, at least from my experience and what I have heard from others.

I think my experiences with Etsy have been good. My sister has a store too. They have to be pretty good and honest of Etsy won't let them stay on.

I've never had a problem on Etsy. But. I've never ordered from Latvia. :)
Oh... wait... I order a shirt from Los Angeles and the person still hadn't sent it almost 3 weeks later. I asked for my money back and she refunded me, but got a little snippy that I reported her.

If the Vendor's "feedback" ratings & comments were good/high/consistent from other Buyers, then it should be fine.
But... do you know how long it will take to get to your mailbox?
And what type of shipping it is?
Expedited or economy?
Economy shipping, which costs the less, takes longer.
I just hope you get it in time by the time you need it.

I have ordered from Etsy.
But not from Latvia.

My daughters (ages 24 and 25) do a ton of shopping on etsy, and they've always been happy with what they purchase. The worst that's happened is an item arrived late.

Vendors are usually legit on etsy. You should be able to find ratings of the vendors, kind of like ebay, I think. If this vendor doesn't have any, I'd be a bit wary.
