Progesterone in Pregnancy

Does anyone know if a progesterone level of 17 at about 10 weeks pregnant is really low? I'm so scared of miscarriage and just don't want to worry any more. My level started out at 6 weeks at 20, went down to 16 at 8 weeks, and is now at 17. They said my HCG is fine, but I'm still concerned. I'm on suppositories every day and shots twice a week. Anyone have experience with this? Do you know what your level was at 10 weeks? Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

I dont know much about this but I do know from having 2 miscarriages that if your HCG levels are good then you should be okay and try not worry to much!! I know easier said then done!! Good Luck!

I assume you did IVF?(otherwise I don't think regular doctors even check progesterone levels at this point)Yes,it is low.It should be around 40 or more at this time. You should be on progesterone shots every day,I believe 1cc daily.
Good luck!

well, once you're on the suppositories, there's really no sense in checking levels. the hormones are absorbed locally and do not get into your bloodstream... so, i'd pay not attention to the numbers, and 17 is fine anyways. i went thru many pregnancies and miscarriages with several different specialists, so i'm not just spouting off the top of my head. try not to stress if your HCG is fine.

Yes, I believe this is low. Are you taking any progesterone shots or supplements? You do need some progesterone supplementation. A level of 17 doesn't necessarily mean you're going to miscarry; however, it could cause some placental problems. I know around 11 weeks is when the placenta takes over the production of progesterone and maybe it will go up for you then.

I see that you live in Lincoln. I live in Omaha and my last 2 babies were born in Lincoln. I suffer with low progesterone issues and I have to take shots while I'm pregnant. I've had some risky pregnancies from low level of progesterone. I recommend my doctor who is also in Lincoln. His name is Paul Hayes. His practice is The Woman's Place, phone # ###-###-####. He's had special training in progesterone issues and can help you.
At 10 weeks my own levels were in the low 20's and I had to take 2 progesterone injections a week. At 25 weeks my own levels started to rise and all was well. I know if you called their office today and explained your situation, they would get you in asap.

I've read a few of your other responses. I'm a nurse and I've had 5 children. Just because your HCG is good doesn't mean your progesterone is good and you should get another opinion soon. I wouldn't take any chances. Please trust me on this.

I hope this helps you.
