Problem W/ Johnson's Head to Toe Wash

I've noticed that when I use this product, it ends up turning the wash cloths a gray color. I've tried Oxyclean, bleach, just about everything on them. They look old and dirty. Has anyone else experienced this with this product? And if so, have you been able to get the "gray" out of the washcloth? Thanks for the advice. N.

What can I do next?

The Johnson's shampoo and washes have Quaternium 15 in them, which is a formaldehyde releaser. This may be why its turning gray. This ingredient, by the way, has been directly linked to cancer. Also, take caution in using bleach. It is registered pesticide and it EXTREMELY dangerous. It is known to cause reproductive issues in women, lung, kidney and liver damage.

I did 2 years of research about toxic chemicals in the home and their long term health effects. I was completely shocked at what I learned. I am now trying to educate consumers so they can make informed choices for their families. To learn more you can go to www.GoGreen4Health.com

If you have any questions contact me. I'd be very happy to help out in any way I can!

I don't use it, but if something was doing that to my laundry, then I would NEVER put it on my child's skin. Try switching to something all natural like Burt's Bees Baby Bee or something. Anything harsh like Johnsons or even Aveeno dries out my DD's skin, but Burt's Bees works well or Jason's.

I had to stop using this product on my lil' ones. There were getting really really dry skin. I ended up having to take the 16 month old to the doc. She has medicated cream that she has to use now 2 times a day.

I did not like the fact that it was turning my cloths a nasty color (just think what it is doing to your childs skin).

My older 2 just needed extra lotion to get their skin back to normal.

Just switch brands. I went to Dove. Have no problems so far.

Wow, I'm shocked to read this and the responses. This is the only bath products my children have used and it's been in my house for almost 9 yrs. My kids have no skin problems and it has never turned my laundry grey. I wash my son's bath stuff (towels and wash clothes) seperate so no bleach or harsh detergents and they are all white when supposed to and bright when colored.
Sorry you are having trouble..maybe a bad bottle? Your best bet would be to switch like someone else said..but we love this stuff.

I have used this product once and never had a problem with it, but I started using some natural products because my kids had very very dry skin. I use coconut body was from the body shop. They are fabulous products and you don't have to use much so it lasts for awhile. I actually became a consultant because I loved the products so much. I can send you a sample if you are interested, or you can check out my website at www.thebodyshopathome.com/web/aoaks. I don't think I would use something on my kids that discolored the wash cloth. Good luck and I would just check into some more natural products.

I just recently switched from Johnson's to a natural product. I did this after seeing a report on the news about baby products containing chemicals that could cause furtility issues later on in life. They tested the baby wash, lotions and powders; they tested various babies diapers and realized that the children's urine had high levels of these chemicals in it. This is just one study, but to be safe I've switched.

I am so glad to hear that someone else is having this same problem. Mine isn't with Johnson's, but with body washes in general. My pretty colored wash clothes are all grey on the area where you squirt the body wash! I've also soaked in OxyClean, etc. which only lightened it a little. Bleach didn't do anything either. I was wondering if it was the minerals in our city water reacting with the body washes. I'm interested to hear what you find out, so I'll check later!!

I had the same problem, and I can not figure out why it happened. I did switch baby wash when I ran out, and I did not have the problem anymore. I just ended up buying new wash cloths.
