Has anyone ever used carrot oil to prevent or heal stretch marks while pregnant? I used a lot of stretch mark cream, vitamin e oil and cocoa butter with my last pregnancy, and it worked ok, but I am wondering if there is something better, and not $10 a tube!

I just used cocoa butter lotion with both pregnacies which helped. I have no stretch marks, but I also kept as active as I could (walking daily) You have to remeber though that stretch marks and wether you get them or not are genetics. You can do everything to prevent them, and still end up with them.

I used Tummy Honey (both the Butter and the Tummy Honey Stretch Mark prevention stick). It really helped with itchy tummy during the pregnancy and I did not end up with any stretch marks. I understand that it is largely genetic and I am only one case, however I have stretch marks on my breasts from when I developed as a teen (a looooooong time ago...I was 41 when I got pregnant with my son) and wanted to prevent them on my tummy. It seems to have worked, but who's to say? I don't think it can hurt.

I think the best prevention is a slow weight gain during pregnancy, lotions may help the itchy tightness, but as far a prvention I'm not sure it truly helps.

Of women who use stretch mark creams, 50% get stretch marks and 50% don't. Of women who use no stretch mark creams, 50% get stretch marks and 50% don't. Your best bet is to eat good and try not to get too big. Topical creams may make you feel better, but weather you spend a little or a lot on your stretch mark cream isn't going to be the reason you do or don't get them.

Hello J.. You are either predisposed to them, or not - genetically that is. Nothing you do will prevent them or make them go away if it's in your gene's. Sorry :(

I honestly believe that genetics play a huge part in whether or not you get stretch marks. I didn't use one single cream, extra lotion or potion and I don't have one stretch mark after my first pregnancy. I have friends who used everything on the market and have tons of stretch marks. I think if you keep your body well hydrated and use regular lotion, if you didn't get them with your first, most likely you won't get them this time around. Good luck!

I don't know that I'd waste money on trendy stretch mark creams. I've read that it's genetic whether you'll get them or not. I didn't use anything during my pregnancies and have not one stretch mark...this was with a first baby at 46 and twins at 51. So I truly believe that it's hereditary. None of my sisters has any, and neither does my mom, who had six kids.

I heard that you're either going to get them or not and that stuff that claims to prevent it is basically a scam. That's according to my OBGYN. He said that it's a genetic predisposition and if your mom had it, you probably will, too. Sure it probably wouldn't hurt to slather on $10 lotion, but it probably won't help either.

Good luck!

Nothing that you put on the outside of your body is going to make any difference on your stretch marks. Just drink lots of water and hope that your DNA is kind. And...save your money!

Making sure you stay hydrated and your skin is hydrated will help immensely. Sensaria Natural Bodycare has great products for the skin and they contain the finest in pharmaceutical grade vitamins and minerals along with essential oils and plant extracts. No Petroleum either (this is a big one as it allows all of the goodies in the product to actually soak in and do some good).

Check out our seven different scents of body butters, the jojoba oil (great for the hair and face as well) and even just the hand and body lotion will help. There is a one-year guarantee and I offer a first time customer discount to Mamasource moms.

More importantly is that these products should and can be used with your baby and everyone in the family, not just mom.

There are several essential oils that are helpful. First recommendations per my "Essential Oils Pocket Reference" text are: Lavender, myrrh; or Frankincense, elemi, spikenard, geranium.

My suggestion is to get some Lavender essential oil - it is readily available at places like Henry's. You can mix it with a carrier oil (like jojoba, almond, macadamia, etc.) and then apply 2-3 drops twice a day. I would make up a very small amount in a separate little bottle as you would be mixing it 50/50. That way you can save the Lavender oil for other uses in different concentrations later, like adding some to your bath or bath salts.
