If you don't mind used strollers, try the consignment shops. I was just in Trader Tots in Cape Coral & they had just gotten in a stroller for three. I have seen twin strollers in other consignment shops in the past. Good Luck.
Hi everyone,
my husband and i just found out that we are pregnant with twins and we also have a 19 month old daughter. I am looking for some advice about strollers, likes and dislike would be really appreciated. Our daughter will turn 2 years old two months before the twins are born. Please any thoughts.
Thank you!!!

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR TWINS!
I have 2 year old twin boys. Here are the suggestions I have and hopefully they will help you. =)
For the first 3 months I had them both sleeping in the same crib. It helped because they are used to being together in the womb so they still need and want that closeness and they slept wonderfully together. I have tried and have 2 different types of strollers. I have a Graco Tandam stroller and a McCleanan (I think I spelt that right) side by side. I love each of them for different reasons. The tandam was PERFECT when they were infants because the car seats fit in it perfectly and was easy to maneaver the side by side I enjoy now because they can both see what's going on while they are in it and don't kick each other like they would if they were in the tandam. I tried breast feeding and it didn't work for me at all, I didn't let down right and it just wasn't for me so I have no advice on that. Do your best to get them on the same sleeping and eating schedules it helps so much because I always had a fear that I would forget to feed one of them. I had a eating chart at night so I knew how much and when they were eating, it's just something that helped me. Also I got the baby carriers and never used them. It was too hard trying to get them in it at the same time and then try to strap it to me it was just ridiculous. Well that's all I can think of at the moment. I hope it made sense! =) Congrats again... twins are absolutely wonderful. Good luck. If you have any more questions I am here if you want to ask me.
Congrats to you! I have a two year old daughter and I found out recently that I am pregnant with triplets! Please let me know if you get any good advice. I'm going to check out the multiples clubs I'm sure the women there can offer some great ideas and suggestions. BTW how far along are you? Good luck with your pregnancy!
This has nothing to do with your situation except you having twins made me think of a dream my husband had recently about me having twins. I just feel like telling someone cause it's a bit funny. I have a boy 3yrs and a girl 5yrs, he dreamed I had twin boys and was so exhausted after the births that I went to sleep and he had to name them. So he names one Josh, and the other Sebastian which is the same name as my son. Even gives him the same middle name. I had to laugh about that. I have a bad memory so when he told me that I said "yeah and as bad as my memory is imagine how bad it would be with two sons with the same name." He then laughed and said that would be better for me cause I would only have to remember one name for both kids. I just laughed and shook my head. He also said in his dream, that he didn't even realize what he did until he saw the two Sebastians together.
Crazy the stuff we dream, isn't it.?!
Buy the way, I have a twin stroller for my kids which is still working quite well excluding one wheel that is starting to come loose, and the kids don't like that the front seat won't recline as far as the back one. I've had it about 3 years since Sebastian was born, and sometimes use it if we think we need to put both kids in the stroller, like our last trip to Sea World. It is a bit bigger then the single stroller but it doesn't seem to be much more of a problem. The back wheels do get caught on things some times, because they are doubled and are wider then the front wheels. I think it's an evenflo, but I'm not totally sure on that.
I think there was a discussion on this a couple months ago...you can try doing a search on "twins" or "strollers" (not sure if there's a search function on this site though). I think there is a double stroller plus a sit/stand platform on the back for a 3rd child. I have 2 yr. old twins and a 6 yr. old so my oldest didn't really need a stroller when they were born. I purchased a Snap n Go, which was great but wouldn't work for the 3rd child!
Hi T., You need to join TBAMOMS immediately. I am a board member of this group and I am REALLY sorry that I did not join sooner. I waited until after my twins were born to seek advice. This group has all kinds of support and assistance for families that become mambers. There is a 3 month free trial membership. Check us out and see what we are all about. I don't know what I would do without this group in my life!
Hi T..
I don't really have any advice, I just wanted to say congratulations to you. Being pregnant is a special in itself, but being pregnant with multiples is such a wonderful gift. I am a sibling of twins, and multipls always hold a special place in my heart, so again, congrats and good luck to you and your soon to be expanding family.
You have already gotten some good advise, I would just like to point out that a 2 year old also needs to be in a stroller from time to time. Gracco makes a triple tandem stroller. It's a bit on the large side, but then so is your growing family. I had an 8 year old & a 4 year old when my twins were born & my 8 year old use to complain to me about having to hold his sisters hand & help me keep up after her. It would have been so much easier to take them places if I had a seat for her as well. Just a little food for thought.
Graco came out with a great double stroller, its the Graco Duo Glider. It turns on a dime and gives both kids ample room. It is also fairly light to push. Not sure if you are looking for one for three. If you can't find a three seater consider this with a Playtex Hip Sling for the then 2 1/2 year old.
Hi Tanya,
First of all, congratulations on the twins! How exciting! I have 18 month old fraternal girls. My suggestion would be to join a twin club. I am on the board of PPODS (Pinellas/Pasco Parents of Duplicates). This club rocks!
We have a Yahoo message board that has been such a lifesaver for me! Those nights when you are up at 3 am and trying to figure out how to feed 2 screaming babies, you can hop online and ask. It's also a great way to get info and advice on things like strollers, high chairs, going to the store, on and on and on.
We also have monthly Mom's Night Out, Dad's Night Out, Summer Parties, Holiday Parties, Playdates, Game Nights, Garage Sales etc.... We have somehere in the area of 110 families so you have access to a wealth of experienced mommies and daddies. It is an amazing group of people and I highly recommend it.
I'm not sure where you live...there are several twin groups in the area. There is the one I am in(www.PPODS.org - our site is actually getting ready to be totally re-vamped so it is kind of a mess right now) There is Tampa Bay Moms of Multiples, also called BaMOMS(www.tbamoms.com) There is Tampa Parents of Twins and Supertwins, also called T-POTS (www.tampatwinsclub.org) and there is St. Petersburg Parents of Twins, also called SPPOTS (www.sppots.org).
Good luck, and feel free to shoot me an e-mail if you, or anyone else that may read this and have, or are expecting twins or higher order multiples. My e-mail is ____@____.com and my name is M..
Twincerly,
M.
http://nomotc.org/ is the national organization of mothers of twins clubs. from here you could probably find local groups. i have heard that companies (i.e. graco, etc) give discounts if you contact them directly about having twins or multiples.
or http://www.tampatwinsclub.org/ is the mom's club for tampa area... maybe they could help?
did you know that it is possible to wear you babies/twins in slings at the same time? check out maya wrap at http://www.mayawrap.com/u_maya_wrap_101.php#
and click on 'Video - 2 Children & Twins.'
good luck and follow your instincts!
I have 5 month old twins and my oldest just turned 3 last week. It's an adventure, that's for sure! We have the Graco DuoGlider stroller and love it (allows 2 Graco car seats to snap in and go). It was reasonable priced, folds compactly (for a double stroller), and is not too heavy. I can also steer very easily one handed. We opted for a double rather than a triple stroller (they are huge and expensive) and my 3 year old usually prefers to walk along side and hold my hand or "help" push the stroller. I always keep a baby bjorn under the stroller (just i case) so I can let my oldest ride and carry one of the twins in the bjorn. Works great. When Daddy comes out with us, we just put the 3 year old in his little umbrella stroller. I think one step ahead makes a double stroller with a tandem ride on platform for an older child, but I'm not sure how expensive it is. Best of luck to you and your double blessings on the way- you are in for a treat! Feel free to email me any questions you may have and I'll do my best to answer them!
