I have always loved Kathy Smith's exercise videos. She has been doing them a long time, and has a prenatal one as well.
Hello!
I am looking for a prenatal workout video and I was hoping that you could give me some suggestions. I've already got a yoga one that I like fairly well (now if only I could get myself to actually do it more often...!) so I am preferably looking for one that is a bit more cardio or aerobic, with some tips on back strengthening exercises.
Thanks!

Hi J.,
I am a doula, and I offer to all of my client's who ask, Kathy Smith's Pregnancy Workout video. It has a bit of cardio, yoga, and muscle toning. You might wish to see if you can get it from your local library before you purchase it.
Good luck!
My dietician recommended Lisa Hart's "Fit Mama" when I was pregnant with my last child. It's great! And FUN! I got it off of Amazon.com for about $10.
I've been using Lisa Hart's "Fit Mama" I used it with my daughter and now with my second. It is easy to follow. Some moves have 1, 2 and 3rd trimester variations. It contains salsa dance, yoga fat burn, stretching and labor and delivery prep (kegels and deep breething)
I've been using Denise Austin's Fit & Firm pregnancy and I really like it. It has cardio for all trimesters, as well as toning exercises for 2nd & 3rd trimester. All are in 20 min. increments. Sometimes it seems like she's talking to a child when she addresses the audience, but she's just trying to be positive. I can overlook it because I feel safe, it's effective, and positive. I went through a small company in Portland to get it, and I wouldn't recommend it as they shipped me the wrong DVD and I had to pay for the shipping to return it. Instead, I would go through Amazon or some other place.

Try NIA, yoga is not that great as when you streach you kind of "pushing" the baby to turn. Too many turns is not that good.

I used Denise Austin Fit & Firm pregnancy. IT has several differnt work outs; one for your whole pregnancy, one for the 1st and 2nd trimesters, one for the 3rd trimester and she even does one for bouncing back after baby. The workouts are good, but I have to admit that some of her comments are annoying to listen to day after day, so I just muted her and played my own music after I got the hang of the routine. Good luck!! E.
J.,
Years ago when my sister was pregnant, our mom sent her a copy of a Jane fonda workout video for pregnant women. We both liked using it.
A few years ago I was looking for more of her videos because I have one from the 80's that I really liked. I ended up purchasing the pregnancy one among others of hers because I really like her style.
Jane Fonda videos can be found online.
Best wishes to you and your baby to come.
Erin O'Brien's dvd is pretty good. She's the wife of James Denton (Mike, the plumber from Desperate Housewives). And for a bonus, he makes an appearance! =)
I liked Karyn Steben's "The Perfect Pregnancy Workout." It's got some cardio, and exercises with weights that seemed like enough to me in my later second and third trimesters. It includes squats, lunges, ab work, hip stretches, kegels, and various arm strengtheners. Plus she's in amazing shape.
Denise Austin made a few work out videos/DVD's while she was pregnant, and they were pretty good too. I was pregnant at the same time as 2 other friends and we rotated videos between the 3 of us. There were 2 Denise Austins and another one that I can't think of off the top of my head, but I wasn't as good as the Denise Austin ones. I think it helped that I was "working out" with another pregnant gal on T.V. as well.
