My doctor hasn't discussed labor with me. I am 33 weeks pregnant. Is he supposed to tell me when to go pre-register or am I supposed to know that.

What can I do next?

I never heard of pre-registering. My OB asked me which of their two hospitals I preferred and when it was time, I just walked into the hospital.

You can pre-register as soon as you decide what hospital you want to deliver at. Make sure your doctor will go there, of course...

My doctor sent over my information to the hospital so I was already pre-registered. I believe that is pretty common (it is here in DE anyway). If you don't know, ask your doctor.

I pre-registered at a "Meet the Doctor's" event. I think it depends on what kind of Medical Group you have. My group has something like 12 Dr's so they had that meeting and then the hospital tour. If you have one OB that will definately be the one to deliver you, (Lucky!!) then they might not have that service to tell you to pre-register. I'd look into that and then call the hospital to set up your tour. It was really nice walking into the hospital and already having all of my paperwork done and completed.

Good luck with the birth of your baby!!

Schedule a tour of the hospital and then you can pre-register right then and there.

You can pre-register, which I suggest, for sure. It makes the whole process that much easier. It doesn't take to long, at least it didnt in Palm Springs, but you don't want to do it when you are in labor.
Ask your doctor any questions you have, write them down if you need too. Make sure they answer all your questions. That is what they are there for.
Good luck!

If you know which hospital you need to go to, give them a call and ask right now. It sounds from this question and your previous question as though your OB is particularly forth-coming with information. Please don't be afraid to ask him questions. He might have mistakenly thought you already knew this, which he shouldn't do, but do ask lots of questions.

You need to ask your doctor where he delivers if you want him to attend your delivery. His front desk may be able to tell you. Then tour the hospitals you have to choose from and pick one to pre-register at.
