M.P.
I remember that you had a lung carcinoid and had surgery recently. I wonder why you're having to get all sorts of tests. I had a lobe removed with a carcinoid. I did have to go back to the surgeon for a post surgery check up but that is all.
Could it be that you're in need of reassurance which you're hoping to get in Tulsa?
Were they not able to remove all signs of cancer. I've been cancer free for 9 years. I think it's been that long. Yes, I had to have an CAT scan every 6 months the first couple of years and then once a year for the next 3. Is this what you're going to Tulsa for? And is Tulsa nearby so that you'll continue with the follow up there? It helps to have same person do the follow up over time.
I'm just feeling concerned for you and your fear. You don't have to be so fearful unless they weren't able to remove all the tumor and nearby lymph nodes. And if they've done a CAT scan of your trunk and it's clear.
Because, at one point, I was having symptoms that could indicate a carcinoid tumor I did have more tests but it was just that one time and it was a year after the surgery. I never had a colonoscopy. It's my understanding that would only be necessary if other tests showed the possibility of a tumor.
As to Steve Jobs. His tumor was in his intestines, the more common site and it is more difficult to cure. It would be rare for someone to have a tumor in both sites. I suggest that in Jobs case his first tumor had already spread and they weren't able to get it all. I've read that is more common with abdominal tumors than ones in the lungs.
Carcinoids are slow growing, Mine was the size of a quarter and had probably been there for 20 years. I just wonder if you're scaring yourself. Or have tests indicated the possibility of another tumor?
I'll pray for your trip and exam as well as for peace.
