I have a very inspired 2 year old boy who is getting potty trained as we speak. He has been at it for about 2 days. He is at a wonderful small home daycare 3 days a week and she has been great at training him. She has a routine, I won't bore you with it just the reward jar that I think is a great idea, she is a firm believer of no candy. But when they use the potty while training they get 2 M & M's I don't mind that at all. She has had great success thus far. If he does not go he does not get and candy. My question, I want to do a similar program for him at home to stay consistant. Does anyone have any craft ideas for this reward box, jar, etc that we can display in the bathroom and that he recognizes and only gets it after he goes in the potty. I do plan on useing M & M's for the reward. He does not get any candy at home so this would truly be a big deal in his life.

What can I do next?

Hi K.!
I have three girls....two of which are older and a one year old who I plan on potty training in a few months. My idea for you is....STICKERS! My older two loved them, so they worked out for us. You could even make a "potty chart" with the days of the week on it...he gets to put up a sticker himself for each time he uses the potty each day. This way you get to keep track of how he's doing with out forgetting anything along the way with our busy mommy lives we live! Good luck with whatever you choose to do.....and good luck to Charlie....Let us know how he does!

Hi well that is great news about your son. we did a grab bag. I filled easter eggs with little surprises in each one and every time he went he got to pick an egg out of the grab bag. It worked great. I have friends that didn't even use the eggs they just put in little stuff in the brab bag. Such as little packets of m&m's to stickers to little bubbles (4 for a dollar at the dollar store)ect. Our son loves temorary tattoos so we did those too. Just fill it with little things and stuff of interest. Good luck hope it helps

plastic bugs in a bug jar
or small farm animals in a box decorated like a barn
or treasure box with various small toys/sticker combo
or a large pack of match box cars with a box like a garage
or small dinosaurs in a cave box
or shells in a beach bucket
you can pick up bags of small toys at most dollar stores
start at one prize per trip and then as he gets better one prize per dry day
after he gets all the prizes let him keep the container
just keep an eye on him to avoid choking hazards
get whatever motivates your son
my 2 year old is potty training too
good luck and have fun with it

You could always use a cookie jar, with his favorite character on it.
