I would have them go into the bathroom with ALL the other boys and dad so they can see what is going on in there. Have the older boys say positive things about going to the potty. ALso try throwing some cheerios in the toilet and have the boys "shoot" the cereal. My mom had to do this with my brother when he was younger and it works. My son couldn't be bothered when I tried to train until he saw my fiance going. Once he realized they had the same stuff, he wanted to be BIG boy like dad. I don't know if this will help, but at least it is something to try.

what about a rubber ducky in the toilet? or cheerios? i'm a firm believer in figuring out what will make them want to use the potty. i think thats half the battle. does daddy let them watch him? i let my son run around the house naked or in underware only, for awhile. the first time hed peed without a diaper on he wanted to use the potty. and last but not least...bribery. no, i'm not ashamed to say,i'm not above good old fashioned bribery. having said all that,my boy wasn't ready to potty train til he was 3 1/2. good luck & God bless.

Hi! I am a mother of four boys, two of which are twins. My youngest is now four (a December birthday) and he just learned 10 days after his fourth birthday. If you wait until they show interest (despite their age), they will train very quickly. Each of my boys trained within a few days with few accidents when I simply trusted their instincts and their interest levels in potty training. I know it can be stressful especially if others have their children trained, but believe me, it is worth the wait! The amount of accidents is minimal (one or two a day for two days MAX). Take a deep breath and wait until they are ready. If one is ready before the other, just train the one who is ready (one of my twins trained nearly 8 months before the other). Best of Luck! Remember, there are few statistics of children going to elementary school in diapers! K

This might sound crazy but use Cheerios to potty train them...have Dad help too. You take some cheerios & throw them into the toilet & make a game out of trying to sink them..you know point, aim & shoot. We know you can't sink cheerios as parents but the children don't & the more their trying to sink them...they're being potty trained & don't even know it! Let me know how it turns out, I wish you the best & God Bless!

I am a 40 yr. old mother of 3, I have learned the hard way that children do not potty train until they are ready. You can fight, scream, bribe, etc... The bottom line is when they are ready they will let you know. I was confident that all three of mine would get married some day. I pictured myself handing the diaper bag over to the new spouse saying " Good luck to you, nothing I have done works." They were all three over 3 when they finally learned. Most importantly.... do not stress. They will get it, and when they do it will probably happen quickly.
You may want to check with the doctor, just to rule out that it is not medical.
Good luck!

Best advice I ever heard was from Dr. James Dobson. He asked the question, "how many children in kindergarten do you see in diapers?" I had 4 boys and the latter two were not potty trained until after they turned 3--one was over 3 1/2 years old! Boys will be boys and one "boy" thing they do is live life on their own timetable! A friend of mine suggested using the old fashioned cloth training pants with no plastic covers and no shorts or trousers...that way they really felt when they were wet and had some amount of discomfort. Unless you are dealing with developmental delays, they WILL get potty trained. I had 8 children and I have often made the comment that potty training was the MOST frustrating part of parenting for me. I actually did best with the two "slow-poke" sons, as I just relaxed and trusted that they would eventually want to stop wearing pull-ups and be like everyone else! Guess what--THEY DID!!

Try having them wear new "big boy" underwear around the house to get them acclaimated to the feeling of being wet. The usual result is that they won't like the feeling and will be more inclined to go TO their potty chairs instead. Also, try rewarding them when they make it their in time. Make it a game of sorts. Only try this at home when you can monitor their fluid intake and behaviors. Good luck

I don't know if I have any great advice, but if it's any consolation, my son turns 3 Saturday and we are having potty training issues as well. Some days he'll use the potty, other days he won't. I've been given the advice to just keep him in underwear for like a week and eventually he will get tired of being wet, but working full-time, this is quite a challenge.

My kids are older but my sister used Dr. Phil's "potty party" a couple of years ago. Made it a big tadoo everytime. I've always heard bribes are good in training.

Or you could do what I did with my first one. Leave on a cruise and leave the kids with grandma. Ta-da it was done. lol

I am in the same boat! I have twins boys who turn three in July. I have been trying to potty train for a little over a month. My babysitter and I are working together on this project. We give smarties or pez for treats when they pee on the potty. Unfortunately they still won't go on their own. We set a timer for about every 30 - 40 minutes, when the timer goes off they run to the bathroom on their own. If you leave it to them without the timer they just get side tracked and go in their pull up. I wish I had the magic answer!! If you get any great advise please pass it on. I am married with a 6 year old boy and 3 year old twin boys. L. F.
