I am potty training my daughter who will be 2 in a few weeks she has been doin really good with peeing on the potty. My problem with her is when it comes to pooping on the potty. It's not that I can't get her to poop on the potty the problem is I can't tell when she has to poop. She doesn't show any of the signs that most kids show. She doesn't stand in the corner or off to herself, she doesn't squat or strain or make any noises. How can I track her bms so that I can encourage her to poop on the potty. She poop serveral times through out the day 3 to 5 times. Most days I work in the mornin and she goes to daycare.

What can I do next?

Just take her often - after meals and waking and every 1-2 hours between. Eventually you will catch her when she needs to go and she will figure it out. I could not usually tell when DS needed to poop (he was 25 months when we trained him) but after a few days of frequent visits to the toilet he got it. We also read the book 'Everyone Poops' by Tari Gomi a lot (ALL THE TIME) whenever he was on the toilet. So he kind of got the idea.

Just keep encouraging her to keep track on her own, and wait to switch to big girl undies until she gets it down a little better. I left my sons in pullups for several months starting at about 18 months, and waited until they were going in the potty most of the time before switching to big boy pants, and they were both fully trained in 3 days.

That will be hard to do unless she is somewhat regular about when she poops (after meals is common). You will have to count on her to be able to tell you, and at her age, it may stilll be awhile before she can reliably do that.

And, of course, before she can reliably notice and take care of her own urges, you will be the one who is "trained," not your daughter. Still, you can save quite a bit on diapers and cleanup time if she is able to use the potty often.

But poop training very often happens after pee training – for some children, it takes months longer. It's a different physical signal than pee, it usually takes longer and requires quite a bit more effort. When you do notice that she has recently pooped, you can just be curious about it? "Hey, sweetie, you pooped! Good for you! Did you feel it coming? Can you tell Mommy when you feel it coming next time? Thank you for trying."

And then show her that the poop goes in the potty; dump it in and let her flush if she likes that. Eventually, if there's not too much pressure, she will get there.

Meanwhile, here's a wonderful, informative website you might find helpful. It gives a few variations on"readiness" checklists, plus tips on various training strategies, the best ages to start them, and the advantages and disadvantages of each approach: http://www.parentingscience.com/toilet-training-readiness...

Well watch her closely and see if she is a mornign afternoon or night pooper generly it will be a consistant part of the day. my daughter is morning and loves shows or movies so when i ran across something called once upon a potty for her with a little girl named prudence in it i was happy. my daughter watched it maybe 3 times. it was different how they explained poopin and peeing. we also did the around the house naked method but that video was great you can find it on youtube like we did and not have to buy it. also keep the potty chair in the room she is in the most so she has time to get to it. good luck
