Potty Training - Houston,TX

I would suggest buying the ring that goes on the grown up toilet and a little step stool. If training goes on for a while, empying the traing seat and washing it out becomes a chore! In my case my kids would go and not tell me and I would not know until the house would start to smell. My niece bought the ring and her kids were trained to go straight to the toilet and she trained them to flush at the same time. Good luck.

I have 2 pottys. The first one I got was a baby bjorn potty (big size). I like using it and will prolly use it more when I know my son is fully ready to train and can do it by himself. The other is a cushie tushie that sits on the big potty. I like using that one because waste goes straight in and you don't have to clean anything but I have to pick my son up to put him on there. I guess its a matter of how big your daughter is and if she is able to climb on top of the big potty. Good luck!

I have a 5 1/2, 4, and 2 1/2 year old. My older two I potty trained at 2 1/2 years of age. It took my daughter one week and my son two weeks. I never used a separate "child" potty. I used the child seats that rest on your toilet and a stool. It worked great and made them feel like a big kid. I am working on my 2 1/2 year old daughter now. We are starting week 2 tomorrow and making progress.
Plus, with the separate potties, you have to clean them out when they use them. Yuck. In a regular toilet, the kids got to flush there own and say, "Bye-bye pee-pee or poo-poo"!
Also, I did now use the pull-ups aka glorified diaper. (in my opinion that's what they are). Once I decided to potty train, I didn't go back and we went straight to panties/underwear. We didn't go anywhere the first week and were house-bound. There were messes, but they were trained very quickly.

Hi I'm a SAHM of a 2 1/2 month boy and a 3 year old girl. I just accomplished the hardest job i ever had in the world. Potty Training my almost 3 yr old! I have to say that the potty that helped her allot was the Fisher-Price Royal Princess Stepstool Potty. You can find it at Walmart. It has a sensor which plays a song once the child actually goes in it. My daughter would get so excited when she heard the song and she actually was encouraged to go on her own just to hear the song go on. She would jump for joy every time that happened. This potty also has a seat that can attach to the actual toilet once she is ready to move on to the big girl toilet as my daughter referes to it. It is also a stepstool which my daughter now uses to reach the sink and brush her teeth and wash her hands. It was a great purchase for us. Hope this helps!

I used the seat on the grown-up potty and a step stool. The whole idea behind potty training as I see it (a little selfish) is so that Mommy doesn't have to wipe behinds and play with poop anymore! So why would you use a potty you have to clean out? My daughter loved the grown-up idea because she wanted to be 'grown-up.'

Also, my little sister trained both her boys using the way that Dr. Phil recommends and the transition was SMOOTH!

Also, as far as going out in public, my daughter is 7 and is still scared of them so I recommend that you make her use them! Otherwise you will still be going into the stall with her forever!

We have this one http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5420744 and my son really likes it- It goes off when they potty and plays fun music- it is really funny because sometimes it does go off by itself and my son will say tee-tee? like who did that! We started working with him after Christmas- just to see how he would react- and so far he goes to potty when he wakes up in morning or after nap- and before bath- so far so good!

I think a lot depends on your child. I bought the princess potty thinking my daughter would love the music. Well, I think it startled her more than anything. She would stop peeing as soon as the music started. She is 3 1/2 and still not potty trained. I have quit using the princess potty and am sticking with the seat that goes on the toilet.

I got the one that makes a castle princess noise when you pee in it....it was more of a hastle than anything...personally i just like either the plain old seat you put on your toilet or just a normal one. That way they get used to the normal toilet. Good luck....my 3 year old JUST got potty trained...FINALLY!!!

I bought a the typical $25 plastic potty that fits over regular toilets or stands alone with a removable bowl. Lid folds down. It can also be used as a step. Its been fine for her... Served its purpose; I shouldn't complain... However, now that my daughter is 3, she is pretty well potty trained. However she is frightened of public toilets. So I carry her plastic potty in the trunk of my car. (I stole the idea of lining the bowl with plastic bags in order to not have to clean and sanitize it while we're out.) But her potty is still quite large and not exactly transportable (can't exactly take with us into the mall). We have to go to the car/parking lot if she needs to use it... I'd love the get the travel version but honestly can't justify it when the initial plastic one I bought can serve the same purpose... oh well.

Hi! Good luck with the potty training. I found the best solution was to buy a good sturdy step stool for kids and a kid toilet seat that goes over the regular toilet seat because it gives the kids more of a big kid feel for it and it's not as messy.

Having 5 kiddos and gone through lots of potties I have only found one brand I really like (obviously I hated the others I wouldn't have kept searching.) I love Baby Bjorn. You can find it at the Babies R Us store now (when I bought them I had to get them online!) They have them in many colors online as well, at Target and Babies R Us.

The little one is perfect for younger trainers and to keep in the car. It does not have a removable pot, which I like a lot.

The big one has a nice back on it and has a good sized pot. It's simple- just two pieces. I hate the other potties because they are too complicated and tend to get gunk in their crevices. I like just one or two pieces.

WELL WORTH THE MONEY

We got one of those smaller seats you fit over the normal potty and he had his own step stool in the bathroom- both of which he picked himself. Our son loved using the big people potty and it made it much easier when we were in public. Unfortunately, he is a very big boy, so he wasn't able to use the little seat for long without ending up with pee all over the floor, but for a smaller child (and especially a girl) I think they work great! He potty-trained practically on his own just after 2yo, but he's very big for his age! My sis just taught her girls to hold themselves up on the regular potty.

I used one by baby bjorn. It has no bells and whistles but it seemed to be comfy & easy to take care of!

We use one by Baby Bjorn that sits on the toilet seat. It seems comfortable and is easy to clean. We just came back from out of town and stayed in a hotel for a week. The seat was so easy to pack, and it was great for our son to have it to use in the hotel.
