Potty Accidents - Removing Urine Smell

DS will be 3 in June and potty training is going well. There are still regular accidents, which we are fine with - it's all part of the learning process. I try hard to get those peed in undies/pants in the wash right away, but recently, there have been a couple pairs I have missed and even after running them through the wash twice, they smell urine-y.

Is there anything anyone has used to neutralize/get rid of that old urine odor?? I currently have them soaking in water/vinegar to see if that helps...

TIA!! :-)

What can I do next?

Vinegar. I just add a cup of vinegar to the wash and it works great. I had the same issue with my son when he wet at night. If it was really bad, then I would soak a bit in the wash and the nrun as usual.

Borax works wonders. You can add it to the wash, or dissolve it in warm water and soak the underpants. You can also sprinkle it on carpet or furniture if you have one of those accidents. Works great for other odors too.

Vinegar. Straight vinegar if it's bad.

Start the water add about a half cup bleach. Let the water run until it's about half way full. Then add the clothes. The bleach won't hurt them and it sanitizes the clothes.

I use straight white vinegar to remove smells. It works 95% of the time.

The other 5%, use vodka. I learned that trick last summer when we had to get smoke smell out of things after a fire. Although really, I'd probably pitch the stinky underpants and get new ones before spending money on laundry vodka for that.
