Whole Foods if you have it in your area normally has a good selection of fish, I imagine it would have less additives if you buy it frozen from them too. Check out Trader Joes as well.
I finally decided to start buying fish for my family to eat at least once a week. I was at Walmart today and all the fish, including the one packaged at walmart was a product of China and had carbon monoxide to preserve the color. The tilapia, salmon, cod....everything. The fish my friend buys at Target is the same way. If you don't live on or anywhere near the coast is it possible to buy fish from the US and without the carbon monoxide? I don't care if it's frozen. I know it would be impossible to get super fresh fish. Any store suggestions? Thanks

Costco sells freezer packs of wild caught Alaskan Halibut. The fish is flash frozen and individually packaged. I'm picky too, and think its really good. They have other prepacks too, but I haven't checked on where they are sourced. I do believe it's the law to ID where the fish was caught, and I"m very glad about that as I care too.
Have you tried any of the seafood markets? There are some in and around the Denton/Dallas area. You can also check some of the other stores and even go into the smaller grocery stores.
You need to buy it from Whole Foods or Sprouts(which is cheaper) or Central Market has a great seafood market. You will still need to make sure to read the labels to make sure where it comes from.
i agree with bennyhannah. Also PCC is another market that sels organic and stuff like that. Look for a place that sells mostly organic items.
I forget about the luxuries of living on the coast line. Are there any fish markets? Maybe you could call some of the restaurants and find out where they get their fish. I would be freaked out by fish packaged in China just because we have it in our back yard. Good luck.
In Plano we have Cap't Daves Seafood Market and Hirsch's Meat Market carries fresh fish as well.
