I am looking to participate in any ongoing playgroup/mom's club in lakehsore/marine drive area-60640. New to chicago and want some activity for my son. I will start working soon, so need something going on weekends or weekdays evenings. I live very close to margate park.
You should look into the Chicago Park District, they have a lot of mommy & me classes. They also offer play school and other activities, they are really reasonable.

Hi S., Margate Field House at Margate Park offers a playgroup on Tues & Thurs mornings. I know that you're returning to work soon, but maybe you can go a few times before you start work to meet some other moms. There is another organization called Northside Parents. It organizes playgroups in your area. There is already one for 60640, so you can do activities on the weekends with others in your neighborhood. http://www.npnparents.org

We are starting a new session tomorrow at DePaul's Community Music division, for music and movement. There are eight families with chiildren aging from toddlers to 6 year olds, but they are grouped into 3 groups, 11/2-3, 3-5, 5-7. It is an hour every Saturday morning, for 8-15 weeks. This is a great activity for adults and kids, provides lots of social interaction, movement and lays a foundation for music playing and performing. The families are great.

Check out this website, www.meetup.com. They have a great groups. You pick which groups you would like to belong to but they have all kinds of activies and play groups going on all the time.
