Plano Presbyterian or Baylor Frisco for Delivery?

Hi!

I have a choice between the Plano Presby & Baylor Frisco as my Ob/Gyn delivers at both and only those two hospitals.
Any opinions, good bad or indifferent?

Also, on another note, I keep reading about placenta encapsulation and how its a really wonderful thing for hormones, increases milk productivity, and helps to alleviate PPD.. Just curious if anyone has ever gone that route!

Thanks in advance!!
SK

I've never done the encapsulation... Too much ick for me. Buuuut, I do have a very "crunchy" friend who did it with her second pregnancy, and she claims it worked wonders for her energy levels, mental state, and general well-being. I'm not sure how much of it is from a placebo effect or how much is actually from the placenta... But it definitely worked for her. She said the only downside was that it DID have a bit of an after-flavor. (That she would get rid of by drinking chocolate milk. Lol.) I would give it a go if you are able to, and can get over the ick factor that holds so many of us back.

She had hers done by her midwife.

I really liked Plano Presby. I have not personally delivered there but doula clients I have worked with have.

If you do end up doing placenta encapsulation it will be hard to get your placenta from Baylor. They don't release them unless you have a court order or you pay a funeral service to come pick it up. When I had my children they didn't do the placenta encapsulation. I wished they would have because I would have done that. It is a service that I offer. If you go to my website under extra services there are several articles that I have included. My website is: http://angiesbirthwithlovedoula-com.webs.com/extra-services

My daughter's midwife made tablets from the placenta for her last two births. She said she wasn't sure if there was a difference but it was worth doing it anyway. Her pregnancies before the llast two were 10 and 12 years prior. She was much younger then. Even tho she was older she had as much energy as she'd had previously.
