I saw Dr. Katrina Walsh for 1st pregnancy. Liked her, but felt staff and she paid lip service to my desire for no drugs and breastfeeding. Also seemed threatened by hiring of labor doula. However, always very professional. I was induced with high BP 1 wk before due date and while baby was born fine, I had a few complications. The LDR nurses at the Plano hospital (can't remember current name, but it's at Coit & 15th) were awesome, tho didn't care for the attitude of the recovery RNs.
Switched to OB-GYN practice that also has 2 RN Midwives on staff, Women's Health Alliance. Saw the midwives for next 2 kids (drove in from Frisco for last one!)....loved them! Never had problems with high BP again, great deliveries.
Best of both worlds, you're in the hospital (Baylor University Medical Center, downtown Dallas) so you don't have to be transported if there's trouble, but you also have low-intervention approach!!!! I've met Dr. Mathews, but not enough to make judgement call. If you can, go for the water delivery...I didn't say yes quickly enough (tub fills slooooooowly), but would if I did it again!
They'll give you lists of doulas, pediatricians, lactation consultants!!
