Help mamas,
I homeschool and inadvertently grabbed a permanent marker instead of a white board marker in school today. Does anyone know how to clean it up without damaging the white board?
Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

Hand sanitizer. My instructor accidently did this and she used a little hand sanitizer and it came right off

I would try hand sanitizer and wipe with a cloth. Toothpaste, the white pastey kind - not gel, will take marker off wood.

Usually it will come off easily with a pencil eraser or a magic rub art eraser. Good luck!

For future reference, you can also color over it with the dry erase marker and it wipes right off...works for lcd screens as well. We have a little Picasso in the house with a knack for finding Sharpies. Lol.

This has happened several times at work. Rubbing alcohol works great. We use it to clean the board of any dry erase of any smears and shadows too.

When I did this at work, the white board cleaner always worked for me. It is also nice to have on hand to clean your white board periodically.

If you write directly over the permanent marker with a regular dry-erase marker it should come off. Good luck!

I didn't read the other responses, but u can take a dry erase marker over the permant and then wipe right off. My hubby figured that out. Just write over it w/ the dry erase maker and wipe clean. Sorry if this has already been suggested.

I know I am late to answer but you may also get this for the future . Expo makes the Board Doctor and it is actually a pen that is designed to take permanent marker off white boards. It works great and I have used it many times.

Hi Margie,
Try rubbing alcohol put on a cotton ball. It worked for me once before and I don't think it damaged the white board.
