Pelvic Pain

Does anyone get pelvic pain about 1-2 weeks AFTER their period that lasts for about a week or so? This is not the type of pain associated with ovulating, though it happens around the same time. I've had sonograms of the uterus and they don't see anything. Any other ideas out there???? This has been going on for over a year now.

What can I do next?

K.,

I use to get the pelvic pain at least two weeks before my period. I started getting the pain two years after I had my son. It lasted for about a year. It came to the point where if I sat down for a long period of time, when I got up I coudn't even walk. My Gyno said that it was the muscles. It finally went away.

Had the same problem believe it or not for about 2 years although mine was more sporadic. If you've had a pelvic exam to check for the existence of fibroids, polyps and endometrosis, my next suggestion is to see a gasterointerologist. Sometimes what feels like a uterine problem may actually be a gastro problem (lower intestinal). I was diagnosed with IBS and was prescribed a muscle relaxer. My symptoms were accompanies by diarrhea at times. I however chose a different route. I didn't take the medication but sought the help of a homepathic doctor. You must understand that western medicine treats specific problems and when a proper diagnosis cannot be made, the system of elimination is used. Homeopathy treats the entire body as a whole much like acupuncture. I have been using the medicine for about 8 months now and not only is my pelvic pain gone, but so is my diarrhea, my acid reflux is under control, my monthly bouts of tonsilitis are gone and I have not felt this good in years. Good luck!

Sound like endometriosis. Talk to your gyno about the possibility of it or find a new gyno. Often this is over looked too long and it shouldn't be.

I have endometriosis. It can cause pelvic pain before, during and after your periods, before, during and after ovulation, pain with sex, infertility, and more. Visit http://www.endocenter.org which is the Endometriosis Research Center's website. The only way to diagnosis endo is through surgery. I am a support group leader for ERC's group here in NY. If you need further help about endo, don't hesitate to ask.

Hi K.,
I have the same problem. I "believe" it's endo. I didn't get these symptoms until after my second child. I was in such pain and also had tremendous bowel pain. It stinks! I'm now on YAZ birth control and it has helped greatly. I"m so afraid to go off the pill! I don't know a lot about endo, but I need to research and find out how I got this. I feel your pain, and if you find out, let me know.

Have you been checked out for endometriosis? The most common symptom is pelvic pain. This is due to lesions that form in the pelvic cavity. Talk to your ob/gyn about it. Take care and good luck to you. I hope they find that nothing is wrong.

ya know i have had pain in the pelvic area, but mostly toward the right lower side of the body. i do know that carbonated drinks like soda, seltzer and beer do affect it more. pay attention to what you are eating. alot of food such as beans and peanuts and veggies are the reason, some times if you take beano. it is sold in cvs or walmart. it really helps. popcorn too. things you dont think give you gas and it gets trapped and beano helps.

I suffered from severe pelvic pain. I was dx with adenomyosis. It was detected through the vaginal ultra sound combine with an abdominal ultrasound. The pain was so bad either before or after my period, I was unable to walk. Endometriosis is another possiblity. Adenomyosis is similar to endometriosis, but not as easily detected. Try http://www.endo-resolved.com/adenomyosis.html for some information.

Hello K.
You might benefit from Maya Abdominal Massage. I am a NYC practitioner and I find that the maasage and the self care massage techniques I can show you can help. The massage helps to brake up any adhessions in the pelvis, helps to stregthen uterine ligaments if the uterus is misaligned and just help to aid circulation in the area helping nerves, lymph, hormones and blood flow. It is especially wonderful for women who have had c-sections or any other type of abdominal or reproductive surgury in the past.
Wishing you the best.
Sincerely,
Nicole Kruck, Lmt. ###-###-####

Hi K., just came across this old post of yours. Wondernig if you found any help or relief. What were your other symptoms? How did you feel after intercourse? After long periods of standing? I have Pelvic Congestion Syndrome and you should get checked fo rthis too. Or at least go see an Interventional Radiologist that might help
you. Check out this website:
