Have you ever gotten a negative test but later found out you were indeed pregnant?

I was due on the 12th, so today is only 1 week late. I took a test Wednesday, BFN, but still no period. DH and I have been trying for nearly 15 months for baby number 3. I also had one miscarriage in November.

What can I do next?

I had a negative pregnancy test with my daughter. When I skipped my period and tested negative, I didn't bother to take another one because I attributed it to stress and my irregular cycle. Then a month later I went to the doctor for stomach problems (I didn't have morning sickness, but I didn't have any appetite and my stomach would really bother me if I tried to eat) and he told me I was pregnant. Completely unexpected. So I would wait a few more weeks and see what happens. Good luck, and I really hope that you get baby number 3 soon! :-)

yeah I had it happen twice with me. With my first and fourth pregnancy. I think one time I just wasn't fair enough along to have a positive. I waited 3 more days took another test and then got a positive result. With my fourth pregnancy I was so excited to take a test I didn't really have to pee so I had hardly any pee for the stick and it came out negative. I waited a few hours later and then took another test and it came out positive. So yeah you could totally still be pregnant. I would wait a couple days and take another test.

With my first pregnancy, I did not get a positive until 3-5 days after my period should have started. Can't remember exactly. I have read that some women metabolize HcG differently, so it may not show up as quickly. If you are a week or more past your missed period, you can get a blood test...otherwise, you prob just need to wait it out.

Yes. I had some very bizarre experiences with LO "flying under the radar". For reasons that are still undetermined, I had NO period for 6 mos. I took tests constantly, had my hormone levels checked, was getting checked out for PCOS, etc. I finally agreed to a round of progesterone to "jumpstart things" and nothing happened. I took a test. I was pregnant! It was so strange. Anything's possible!

For me, my pregnancy signs were almost identical to my pre-period signs. If you're getting negatives but are thinking you could be positive, test again in a week.

I've heard that the reason the tests are 99.9% accurate are because of the .1% of the time when you ARE pregnant but they don't pick up on the hormone they're designed to detect. (the .1% is NOT from tests giving a false positive-- if it's positive, then you are positively pregnant)

I havent but my advice would be to take a digital test. I know they are more expensive but they pick up the smallest preganancy hormone and will give you a cut and dry answer. I found out I was pregant very early on with my first. Otherwise I agree with the blood work. No need to stress and wonder.

It happened to me! The test was negative and I kept having symptoms. Two weeks later it was positive.

Yes, with both my boys I "felt" pregnant before it registered on the stick. With my second, I was testing every few days, kept getting negatives, and so was convinced I was developing diabetes since I had to pee all the time, was gaining weight, had fatigue, hunger/thirst and sudden blood-sugar drops! Finally got a positive a week or so later. Keep testing (but wait a few days or a week between, if you can resist!) and hopefully good news soon! Best of luck!
