Hi! We want to go to the Air and Water Show on Saturday and are wondering if anyone has parked in the LP Zoo parking lot for it?? What time would we need to get to the beach by to get a space in the lot? Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for your responses! We belong to the zoo so we could have parked in the LP zoo lot for free but based on everyone's advise to get there early - we decided not to drive so we could have a more leisurely morning. We took the bus to Oak Street Beach instead and had a great time!! Thanks for all the help!

The parking lot is not very big and fills up quickly on a regular weekend. I imagine it will be full, fast. I'd go down really early, or park a little ways away and cab it over to the beach. Parking is 25 dollars at the zoo, you could find a street spot a mile away and pay less for the cabs.

I did it a few years back. We have a membership so parking is free. Totally worth it, but I thik we got there at around 8AM. that gave us enough time to scout out a good spot and we brough lots of snacks. Good luck!

As the other moms said, get there early. In addition to the zoo parking lot, there is one at North Ave near Clark Street. It's only a little further than the zoo lot and will also fill up quickly, but I think it's a bit cheaper. Try for street parking a bit away from the lake and take a cab or bus....there is a bus that runs right up North Avenue to the lake. If your kids don't normally take the bus, they will likely think this is fun too.

Those spots will fill up very, very early. I'd get there by 8am if you want to try to park at the zoo. Then you could walk around and get breakfast or walk through the zoo for a while before the air show... I think the zoo opens at 9am. Not sure what time the parking lot opens though... But it's automated so you should be able to pull in.

Hi M.
I would not plan on parking in the zoo parking lot, on a regular day during the week it's usually full.
Good luck
