We tried for 9 months and could not get pregnant. I was about to give up when my doctor recommended First Response ovulation kit. I was pregnant within 2 weeks!!! It really works!
Hi ladies,
Well, DH and I have decided to try for #2! Ive just visited my OB/GYN for my consultative visit, have my prenatals, etc. Have any of you used a good ovulation kit you would recommend, or any other method for determining when you ovulate?
Thanks so much
Thank you so much, everyone, for your suggestions and ideas! These are all very helpful. Im so excited about our #2, but being in my late 30's, I want it to happen as soon as possible! Thank you again!

I charted my basal body temperature by waking up in the morning, and then used the cheapy ovulation sticks from babyhopes.com, and early-pregnancy-tests.com, with the ever other day method during my peak days. When my temperature went up, I know my peak cycle was over and we could quite trying. Worked & got pregnant in the second month!, which was the first month I did all three things.
I used the clear plan monitor. It never showed that I ovulated. I have 3 kids and have lost 5 so I know that is not the case. Get the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. I loved it so much that when my daughter aproches womenhood I will be buying it for her.
Hey there ... if you didn't have trouble conceiving your daughter ... then I'd say there's no need to buy an ovulation kit. I admit, I've used one before ... but I'm a super late in the cycle ovulator, so they never worked for me. I say ... if you didn't have issues conceiving before .. then just have at it ... it doesn't have to be so planned out and calculated ... at least give it a few months of good old 'baby makin'! :-)
Also knowing your body changes is helpful as is that book TCOYF! Good luck and best wishes on baby #2!!!!

I have a brand new, sealed Clear Plan Fertility monitor that I could sell you if you are interested. I bought it, and then my friend let me borrow hers so I never used this one. I also have 28 new test sticks that you can have with it. Let me know if you are interested. I'll sell it for $100. They retail for $200.
Good Luck!!

I've tried several kits and I think the best is also the Clearplan moniter. I was lucky that someone gave me their moniter b/c they cost around $200 new, but they are so sensitive and track your cylce so well, its well worth the money.

I used ovulation kits when my husband and I were trying for our second child. I found the ones you buy that you pee on to be very unconclusive. Most said the line would be dark when you are ovulating. What I would run into is the line would be very light and faint so I would keep testing waiting for the "dark" line and would never get one and then it would be gone and I missed my ovulation. What really worked for me was the clear blue and easy monitor. It was pricey. I think it was about $200 and then you had to purchase the test sticks for it, but hands down the first month I used it we were successful in getting pregnant. I used 2 or 3 different brands of the ones that look like a pregnancy test with no luck. I would also check I think it was babycenter.com where you could input your info and they would chart you an ovulation calendar for free. Good luck!
I have THE best O kits to recommend...
Buy the cheap ones you dip into a cup. They are ultra sensitive and cheap!!!
My SIL, who only has 1 f-tube, tried for 2 years to get pg. She even did 2 courses of IUI. She asked me which O kits I used to get pg. I told her, she ordered them and she got pg the first month! She lost that baby to a m/c, but once she was cleared to try again, she got pg the first try.
I have lots of friends who have had a lot of success with these, including myself. I went through some infertility issues too and these really helped me key in on my most fertile time...

Edited to add: while taking your temp is helpful, it can also cause a lot of stress and you start to obess about a fraction of a degree of change. Plus, when you take your temp, you don't know you ovulated until AFTER you already ovulated. With the kits, you know BEFORE you ovulate. I don't know about you, but I want to know before, not after...
