ok i'm 25 yrs old and my period have been really weird since after I had my tubes tied after my 2 yr old was born. At first they were really heavy, then I had alot of cramping then they were really extrememly alarmingly heavy with no cramping and I passed a BUNCH of big clots, I mean BIG. they only reason i didnt see my doc was bc they werent painful, but if they were i wouldve gone to the ER they were sooo heavy. now the clots are still big but I don't pass them half as much and its really heavy only the first day or 2, however this one I have noticed has an extremely foul smell, fouler then the average period. it smells VERY stron like comparable to like ammonia, though not quite as strong. I obviously use very good hygiene especially around this time to avoid that "period smell" so it's not an issue of keeping clean, I just showered at like 430 this morning and the smell even from the tampon is awakening to put it mildly. has anyone dealt with something like this??? aaahhhhh help!

I haven't dealt with anything like that. But from reading/listening to similar types of questions, I'd go see a gyn. You could very well have some type of infection. Foul smelling anything from vagina COULD be a sign of something serious.

Quit using tampons for a bit.
I had serious health issues and was pretty much forbidden from using them.
Most women can use them with no problem, but when you think about it, it's a foreign object in your body and if you have something yucky trying to get out, the tampons hold it all in there.
Not to scare you, but there is such a thing called toxic shock syndrome and until you can get to the doctor, I highly advise you only using pads to let this all drain out of you.
Pads may seem gross or inconvenient, but I wouldn't mess around with this or continue using tampons until your doctor tells you what's going on and that it's okay.

See a doctor. Let us know how it goes.

It seems to me that you have plenty of advice here. Just wanted to say, don't worry too much, just wait for the appointment and make sure you ask all the right questions.
Good luck and pls educate us when you come back- that is interesting.

S., I also have the HUGE clots the first 2 days (my daughter is now 4.5) and they just seem to be getting bigger, I have to change pads hourly! I stopped using tampons last year and I am totally grossed out by my periods each month. I have mentioned this to my Dr. each year and she is not concerned. On the other hand I do not have the issue with the smell, so I would recommend getting that checked out. Please let us know how things go.

The obvious answer, in my opinion, is to schedule an appointment with your doctor... your health is important and maybe it's nothing, but wouldn't you feel better knowing for sure? Good luck to you!

I agree...make an appointment with your Gyn and make it a priority. It could be some sort of bacterial infection and won't clear up until they give you some meds to help with it.

S.,
I had the same problem, talked to my dr, and he recommended that I get an endometrial ablasion done. With the procedure, your OB will cuadirize the entire inner lining of you uterus. On average, every patient has an 80% chance of not having a cycle afterwards and a 20% chance of having a decreased cycle or no change at all. I took the chance, and my cycles were dramatically decreases. The worse I have, is having to change a panty liner 3-4 times during the day. (During my 2nd day)
Talk to you dr and see what they have to say about it. There are possible side-effects also. If by chance a woman get endometrial cancer, it makes it harder to diagnose. I hope that this helps in any way.
