Online banking...Ally or Other?

Hi. I'm fed up with no interest and no customer service with our local bank. I never step foot in there, so I'm ready to move to an online bank. Anyone have any experience good or bad with any? Ally sounds good. I'd go with Discover since I have a card with them but they don't have checking. I'd also take any info on local St. Louis banks with good rates and service, but I'm not sure they exist. Thanks!
edited to say...not talking about online banking, which we currently do, but an online account as opposed to an account at a local branch. They tend to have much higher interest rates...right now around 1%

What can I do next?

I don't think there is a bank that doesn't offer online banking so you have a lot of options!

I loved banking with Citibank-we didn't have one locally so i did everything online-never once stepped inside a branch. We wanted to consolidate everything though so we went with US bank. I like them a lot and again, they are local to us, but maybe 2 times a year I need to actually go in to a branch.

I would avoid M&I and Chase-in my experience-online or in person they aren't very consumer focused-unless you are one of their 'big spenders'.

Try First National Bank of St. Louis, they have a lot of good services and are always friendly. Especially at the branch on Tesson Ferry.

I do all of my banking online, but we also have several branches right near my house. We use Bank of America. I don't know if I would like it if the entire thing was online. What if you have a serious problem? I like being able to go into a bank and talk to a person one on one, instead of over the phone or online. Maybe you could choose a bank where you really could do everything online, but also have the option of going into a branch if you need to? It works for us.

I'd be leery of a bank that was online only and where I could not go in to manage things if needed.

That said, I run our company business and personal finances and I like some one on one services. I do all of the banking online but it does help to have someone there to answer questions if needed. We wire a lot of funds in and out and I iam just too careful to let 1% interest go into the www not knowing how the online bans insured to cover me in case of a crises.

Crisis... I am not speaking of insufficient funds, etc. I manage well over 6 figures, therefore we have no fees except for wire fees when needed. I am talking crisis in case someone hacks my account, etc. I have separate accounts set up specificially for outgoing and incoming wires so our "REAL" accounts won't be compromised.

I deal with Bank of America and Chase. Never had issues with either of them.
