Hello Mama's,

Has anyone ever lived in Oklahoma City or been stationed at Tinker Air Force Base? I am really interested in things to do, schools, and housing areas.

Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

I lived in Oklahoma City a few years ago and loved it!

We were in Edmond which is North of the City and Tinker is East. Depending on how far you're willing to go from the base, Edmond has excellent schools. Oklahoma City public schools are not the best but if I remember correctly, Midwest and Del City's schools are okay.

If you'll be in need of childcare, Oklahoma State University's Oklahoma City Campus (near the fairgrounds) has a FANTASTIC child development center. I worked there for two years and wish we were still in the area so I could take my daughters there.

If you have any more specific questions, please feel free to get in touch with me.

Contact the Housing Office and do a Google search. I haven't been on the base but have been past it several times. University of Oklahoma is in Norman about 20 miles south of Tinker. I believe there is a mall called Midway or Midway City near the base. Highways are all around I-35 runs north and south (to Dallas); I-40 east and west connects with this as well as I-44. Contact a realtor in the area for homes sale or rental and apartments.

What I did when we moved was to get a map and find the center of the area and move out from there so I wouldn't get lost. Enjoy your tour.
