I am looking for cherry wood nursery furniture. I went to Babies R Us and Baby Depot but I'm just not willing to pay their prices. Any other suggestions? I hit a few garage sales this morning but it was all white furniture. I have been surfing Craig's List a little but everytime I find what I'm looking for it's already sold. I am looking for a crib, dresser and glider (doesn't have to have ottoman). TIA!
Thanks for all the responses. I had just about decided to buy a crib from Walmart.com when a mom on here made me a deal I couldn't refuse. I got a beautiful cherry crib at a great price! Still keeping my eyes open for a dresser and glider though ;)

I say Walmart.com as well. We wanted the nice dark cherry wood too. We were about to reluctantly spend $1000 for a crib and dresser. My husband just happened to search on Walmart.com and we got both for less than $400. We have received so many compliments. You would never know it was from Walmart. Plus they have free shipping to the store so you don't have to spend the extra money there.
Call a consignment like Kid-to-kid. Ask them to call you when they get in what you need. Usually they are more than willing to do this as it is an easy sell for them.
Check out Wal-mart - that's where we got ours. However, we had to find it on-line since the stores don't have a sample of everything they carry. If you have them ship it to your local store instead of your home, there are no shipping costs for you.
once upon a child stores have cribs and well as kid to kid stores. i also see someone is offering up theirs for sale. maybe you'll like that one. but otherwise the resales stores are a good choice. you can call them to see if theyhave anything. other than that, once or twice a year or big consignment sales but i don't know where or when those are or if you can wait.
Both Target & WalMart are carrying nicer nursery furniture these days. Also check children's resale shops like Once Upon a Child, etc. Good luck!
Walmart.com has some surprisingly nice cribs at great prices and they will ship to your closest store for free. Also try Once Upon a child...don't just go to one check several in the metroplex.
Have you tried Super Targets or Walmarts? They both now sell baby furniture. I don't know that you will find anything cheaper then what you are finding out in the retail stores. Babies R us and Baby depot seemed to be pretty cheap to me at least. I bought all out furniture at Lone Star Baby because it was better quaility then what you find in at Babies R Us.
Some consignment stores will put your name on a wait list for items that you are looking for. That might be an option. Once Upon a Child in Plano seems to always have cribs and changing tables in various colors. Good luck with your search. And congrats on your up and coming birth.
Check Target..I JUST SAW A BEAUTIFUL CHERRY SET YESTERDAY
go to target i just saw a cherry wood crib!
Cribs.com offers alot of variety in cherry finish. walmart has great prices plus 99cent shipping.
Have you tried WalMart? We got our crib there for about $100. We have a white Jenny Lind style crib and everywhere else they were $300-$400! They had LOTS of them on their website and most you can do site-to-store shipping, pick it up at your local WalMart and not have to pay shipping. You could also try the resale shops like Once Upon a Child or Kid to Kid. They always have stuff coming and going, so you have to check often.
Hello H.,
If you are still looking send me an email and I can send you some pics of a set I have. Not sure what your price range is, but I may be able to help.

I got my daughters stroller at Once Upon A Child. It was still in very good condition and I know they have furniture.
have you tried chevking on prices for havinf it special made and or not usesing actual cherry but stained cherry rather
Do you really like cherry wood furniture as in to the point you'll want your little one to use it as long as can be? I ask since I learned from mine that you should buy true furniture so it can grow with your little one. For instance, buy a dresser instead of a changing table. The changing areas can be attached to any dresser and once your little one is out of diapers then he/she can use the dresser like a big kid... or like Mommy does. You might spend a bit more, but if you use it for years you'll for sure get your money worth.
... the products at Target, Wal-mart, Babies R Us etc are not real wood for the most part so don't expect them to last long especially if they get moved.
Try Kid to Kid. They have locations all over - Wylie or Sachse and Rockwall. I like the one in Rockwall.
There's a place called Buy Buy Baby opening at Parker and 75 (I'm not sure when it's opening, but I think within the next few months... I keep driving by and looking at the building progress lol). They're owned by whomever owns Bed Bath & Beyond so they take those great 20% off coupons that Bed Bath & Beyond always sends out. It's the first one in the area so I've never actually been in one of the stores, but their web site looks good. Good luck.
Keep looking on Craigslist you will get what your looking for if you look everyday to only the new ads for sale by owner (not dealer) that will narrow your search. Call right away and go look same day to get what you want. Believe me it is worth it I furnished my daughters nursery for about $400 (Crib,Changing table/dresser, glider With Ottoman, and large wardrobe) and i am picky I would only buy stuff that looked brand new :)
You may also check Kidstuff, the kids' furniture division at Stacy furniture. I'm not sure if they have cribs (we borrowed our cherry crib from a frined), but we bought a cherry bookcase and dresser there and they were very reasonable.
Craigs List and ebay. I just got some awesome little costumes brand new on ebay and went to a gals home yesterday and got all sorts of toys for my Day Care from her. Lot of new stuff. I think people buy do not want or just go and get stuff to sell there. Some high some not. I wanted a little tykes washer and dryer and tykes does not make it anymore and so I was willing to pay her price for it. Not sure what it is new but grateful I now have it been looking for these for a couple of years. They had several and some of the bids started at .99. G. W
If you don't find anything come September...there's a resale that takes place in March and September, put on by Divine Consign (divineconsign.net). It is held in Grapevine and Plano (and there may be a 3rd location). They only accept the best items and there is usually guite a bit of Nursery furniture to choose from. I sold mine there. Even if you don't need the furniture by then, they have tons of clothes, toys, strollers, etc. Check out their website.
Check out babyuniverse.com
We got our complete nursery set for $600 there and it's great!
Burlington Coat Factory sells baby furniture. Great prices.
Have you tried Lone Star Baby & Kids? Their prices may be more like Babies R Us but I'm not entirely sure. Or what about JC Penney on-line? Target also had some at one time but I haven't looked in a while.
I have a Shermag glider with ottoman in GREAT condition that reclines in 2 positions, but it is not cherry wood. It is a neutral fabric and light oak wood. It is VERY comfortable. I rested very well in it while nursing my boys in the middle of the night. My other nursery furniture was cherry and it looked just fine with the glider.I also have some other baby gear that I am looking to get rid of...Baby trend sit n stand stroller, Chicco stroller (more umbrella-type), rainforest jumperoo, kick and play bouncy seat and fisher-price magical moments mobile. Let me know if you are interested. thanks.

I got the above crib and LOVE it! With my first daughter I bought one of the expensive ones tha turn into a full size bed from babies r us. I don't like it near as much as the one from wallmart.
As for the dresser, we spent a little money on the dresser b/c we wanted it to last a long time. The one we found was at target and it was the cross timbers double dresser in cherry. I put a changing pad on it and and it is a good height for that. Also it has nice highsided deep drawers. I'm really happy with it.

Good luck!
I have a dark cherry stain crib I am wanting to sell. Only thing is we will not have it back in the US until sometime in September (early to mid month). I can email pics if you send me your email addy. It is in great condition, my son was not a biter, and it has a low dresser with 6 drawers so you can use the top of the dresser as a changing table. Not sure yet how much I was going to ask, maybe $500 for the dresser / crib / mattress (if you want it too). We paid close to $2000 for it new, the brand is Ragazzi.
We also may have a glider that we will want to sell. We have 2, one is denim that was made for us at Cat & The Fiddle in Frisco. The other is by Best Chair (I think) and is a buttery yellow sueded material. They both have ottoman and both look like regular chairs, not the wooden gliders. I did not bf but both chairs were great for sitting and feeding a bottle. We have the denim one here in London so will have it back in Plano by September, the yellow one is in storage in Dallas and we will have it at our house in Plano by first week of August. Again, I can find pics on the computer if you are interested.
I think that my MIL still has ours in storage. If interested let me know.

Have you tried second hand stores like Kid-to-Kid? They usually have cribs.
Good luck.
