Not Feeling Baby Move Yet??

This is my third baby and I am almost 16 weeks along and have not felt the baby move yet. I think I MAY have felt him or her a couple of times but it was very quick and I can't be sure. Definitely have not felt anything that I can confirm as movement. I am reading about all these ppl that start feeling their babies at like 12 weeks so Im kinda worried. I am of normal weight so its not that. Every time we have had an ultrasound the baby is moving all over so shouldn't I be feeling that by now?? When I had my 14 wk checkup the baby was so low in my tummy that they couldn't even find the heartbeat w/the doppler - they did a quick ultrasound and heartbeat was good and strong. Could this (the position of the baby) be why I haven't felt anything yet??

What can I do next?

Hi Jamie,
Wow.... your third kid -- Congratulations! I'm actually a first time "mom to be" -- about 6 and a half months pregnant. I didn't really start feeling my baby kicking until he or she was about 20 weeks. Supposedly the placentia was placed "like a canopy" over the top of my stomach, and acted as a cushion between my baby's kicking and me. So that could easily be what's happening to you. If the movement is strong on the ultrasound, and it has a regular heartbeat, I bet your baby's doing just fine.

Take care,

J.

Hi Jamie, With my Twins I didn't feel them really move until I was about 20 weeks -I did feel small light flutters once in while at about 16/18 weeks. I'm sure everything is fine and your baby is just getting lots of rest in preparation to keeping you up at night in your Third Trimester. =0)

Hello Jaime,

I'm pregnant with my 2nd baby and didn't really start feeling him until about 19-20 weeks. Prior to that, I would feel little 'flutters' but that was about it. I know many have said that you'll feel baby much sooner if it isn't your first. I know I get kinda nervous when the Dr. wasn't able to locate baby's heartbeat, but she did after roaming the Doppler around my lower abdomen area and I'm a pretty 'meaty' woman.

I wouldn't worry if you can't feel him/her yet. It may be a little early. And congrats on baby #3!!!

Jamie,

With my son I didn't feel any movement until I was about 5 months along. I wouldn't be too concerned. If you still have worries about it then bring it up to your Dr the next visit. I'm sure that you will be feeling movement anyday now. =o)
