i'm with you, i think green tea is blicky. try white. it has even more anti-oxidants, and is generally milder and tastier.

My husband and I are starting a detox diet tomorrow. I was horrified when I saw I had to drink 12 oz of decaff green tea every day!!!!
I cannot stand the stuff!
Does anyone have suggestions for a COLD version or other substitute? I've heard the detox benefits will deteriorate if altered, stored, etc. HELP! starting tomorrow! :)

Can you do a green with other herbal flavors? Or Try White or Red instead. Most of Republic of Tea's flavors are pretty good.
the antioxidant properties of green tea can certainly be mimicked , check out your local health food store for resveretrol, goji berry, mangosteen, acai berry, noni juice, pomegranate extract, alkaline coffee. Ask the people who work there what they tried and what their reccomendation is
Im on a detox fast right now, raw fruits and veggies for 3 days in a row. Its much easier than other cleanses ive tried, although the "master cleanse " was extremely benificial, yet very hard
I used to drink two pots of coffee every morning. About 3 mos ago I was out and all I had on hand was a few bags of green tea. So, I put a teabag in my coffee cup, filled it with water and microwaved it for 3 minutes and 30 seconds and let it sit for one more minute. I dont really like the taste of tea without just a tad of sweet, so I use about a teaspoon of local honey for that. I felt so good at the end of the day and slept like a rock ! Since I had already heard all the good news about green tea and I didnt experience any ill side effects from stopping my coffee I ran to the store and bought me another box of green tea.
I'm like totally used to it now and have 3 to 4 coffee cups of it a day. I think its easier to drink it hot with honey than it is cold..... Just make yourself a 12 oz cup of it first thing in the morning and get it over with... and then you might find yourself enjoying it afterall. It's done wonders for me and I doubt I will ever pull my coffee pot off the shelf again except for company.
Hi C.!
I know my mom drinks a venti sized Iced Green Tea from Starbucks almost daily and loves it. She gets it unsweetened. This would be an expensive option, but maybe it will spark an idea that will work!
God's Grace to you,
Lisa :)
Dear C.:
Plain green tea, especially the "Stash" brand is awful!!!!!
However, I really like green tea mixed with another flavor. My favorite is a green tea and orange blend. There's also a green tea and blueberry blend that is pretty good.
So, look for blends and stay away from the Stash brand.

Hi I make my iced tea using half green tea & half reg Lipton tea. I use 2 family size Lipton bags & 4 green tea bags per gallon. Just boil it and mix with water & add whatever sweetner you like. It taste just like regular ice tea. And it's great for you!
There's a much easier way (safer too) to detox than by mixing & matching products on your own. It's also more delicious too, and you don't have to alter your diet or eat stuff that makes you gag. Let me know if you want to have a conversation about this.
There are different tea and herbal tea combinations that have more flavor than just the green tea. It's a bit harder to find them in decaf, so I often use 2 different tea bags and make twice as much. There's mint green tea, orange green tea, mix ginger tea/green tea or my favorite is chai tea. The cinnamon and other spices make it more interesting. I like the taste of them cold(but I don't know if it changes the benefits). I mix the sweeteners while it's still hot, then add ice.
Can you use Stevia as a natural sweetner? I drink mine with stevia and make it into Iced Tea. I put two packets in mine. I like really sweet.mmmm.
there are lots of different green teas and they don't all taste bad. Not sure what kind of diet you are doing. I take herbs that detox.
I make iced green tea all the time. Just boil some water. When the water starts boiling, turn off the flame, add several bags of green tea bags to it (depends on how strong you like it), cover and let steep for 5 minutes. After it is done steeping, add it to a pitcher filled with ice and you're done.
If you find out that you don't like iced green tea, they do have green tea supplement capsules that you can take instead. You can probably find it in your local Whole Foods or health food store, or you can probably order it on amazon.com.
Good luck on your detox diet.
can't you get green tea in a pill form... check with your local health food store. you should be able to find it in some kind of a supplement/pill form.
sorry I didn't read all your responses yet so if I'm a repeat I'm sorry!
I do not like green tea usually but I love Zen tea which is a green tea. Try an iced green tea (which is Zen tea) at Starbucks. I get it with no water. If you like it buy Tazo Zen tea. Most grocery stores have that brand or you can also purchase boxes of it from Starbucks. The hot Zen tea at Starbucks uses a different tea bag and it is awful.
Members of my family have done a lemonade detox in the past. There is no green tea involved. I am not sure what it is, but you could try googling it.
I'm not a huge fan of green tea either. Tastes like I'm drinking grass. I like to put lemon and honey in mine. Sometimes, I use a bag of regular tea along with the green and steep them together. I take the regular tea bag out first and leave the green in slightly longer. Maybe you could do that with decaf regular tea? Just a thought.
Good luck with the detox!
