Hello!
I have BAGS & BAGS of BEAUTIFUL clothes that my daughter has outgrown. I have never taken anything to a consignment shoppe or a resale store, I'm not sure how they work? I would love to find one in the NWA area that has a good reputation and tons of traffic. Is there one that pays upfront? I live about an hour out of town and I'd like to take care of it all in one fell swoop! I normally take things to helping hands but a BUNCH of her clothes still have the tags on them! The extra cash would be nice since we are remodeling and I'd like to do her room SUPER CHIC! Do these stores take most brands or can I only send the "good stuff"?? I don't want to be embarrassed and have them take one look at the clothes and say "no thanks!!!" Will they take parts of outfits like dresses with missing bloomers? Or cute sweaters without the matching top? How about swimsuits and gently worn shoes?? What about fleece pajamas that have barely been worn?
PLEASE HELP! I HAVE NO CLUE!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hello Mammas!
Thank you for all of your advice! WOW! I didn't know that there were so many options! My Dads birthday was yesterday so we went to town and I tried out Once upon a chid! AWESOME store! I took in two tubs and two totes and they took about half of what I brought! Thank Goodness!!! It took about an hour and they were INCREDIBLY nice! They gave me a great price on the goods and I walked out with well over $200!! For such a quick trip and little work on my part I'm sure this is the way to go! I had time to check out the clothes in the store and I recommend going in! I found the cutest dress that I am sure has never been worn and they have GREAT wooden puzzles and dress up dolls - toys that are the cheapest and nicest that I have found! Everyone was so nice and helpful I felt so comfortable! I stopped in to a store in Bentonville before I came home and UGH it was just what I dreaded! The ladies were unfriendly and I felt like a nusiance when I asked a couple of questions.
I still have some clothes left over that I just don't have room to store so I am going to check out some of the other options and I'll let you know how it goes. Going to Once upon a child is SOOOOOO much better than doing a garage sale or trying to ebay. I checked out the going rate for some of the things I took on ebay and I am positive that I did better at the AWESOME store. I did weed out some of the outfits before I went in and took tons of stuff to Helping Hands and left some baby clothes, bibs, blankets, and socks with my Mom to take to the Womens Shelter in Rogers.
So THANK YOU ALL AGAIN and PLEASE go to Once Upon A Child in Fayettevile AR and check out their goods!! There was tons of traffic while I was there! The ladies were lining up to get into my clothes, and there were AWESOME deals on really nice stuff! For sure my new favorite shoppe!

Once Upon a Child in Fiesta Square in Fayetteville pays up front. Also, there is a consignment sale coming up in March called Rhea Lana's. They do not pay up front. I always prefer to sell things up front at OUAC. Consignment sales seem like so much work.

If you've got cute clothes, then sell them on ebay. You can go onto the Postal Service website and get mailing materials mailed to your home for free and print the postage right off of your computer....We have here in Alabama a "Kids Market" organized twice a year. It's a week long sale of nothing but consigned clothes.

Most consignment sales are 2x per year in the spring and in the fall. They take seasonal clothing only. Most sales you get your money a few weeks after the sale. You get 70% and the sale gets the rest. Clothes must be in good condition -- no stains, tears, missing buttons, etc. Sometimes there are limits (such as 5 pair of shoes or 15 items in a certain size). When pricing things, generaly ask about 1/3 of what it would cost new. Boutique brans and new with tag items may bring a little more. They wouild probbly take the dr4esses w/o the bloomers as long as the dresses weren't too short w/o the pants. Sweaters w/ shirts are fine. When possible, make outfits out of things even if they did not come together. Toys must have working batteries and no missing parts.

I live in the Chattanooga area and there are 3 big sales around here. You can check out their websites. The Just Betwen Friends website has a place where you can search for a sale close to you. You might be able to google the other sales to see what comes up.

Hello,
Have you thought about EBay? I know a few people that are selling stuff on there and they are doing good. I know I buy a lot of clothes and things on Ebay and I love it. EBay definitely gets a lot of traffic and you dont have to let them go if you dont want to. Where in Arkansas are you. I am in NorthEast Arkansas

There is a plcae close to helping hands called "Little Britches" Each shop decideds on their own, what they will ytake or not take and depends on what stock they already have on hand. Most places will not pay you cahs up front. Don't get your feelings hurt if they won't take everything. Call ahead and ask what they are currently accepting. They will also tell you if it doesn't sell in a certain amount of time they will call you to pick it up or donate it. Good Luck.

It is almost time for Duck Duck Goose it is in Little Rock and then another one to follow in Conway. Their website is same as name. You take your stuff and when the sale is over they send you your money. WE have a Great consignment store here in Beebe but you can only take 25 items at a time and get your money when it sales. I think I might get with other Moms in my area and make a day of taking in my stuff split the gas have lunch and get rid of my goods.

Good Luck!

I loved Once Upon A Child in Fayetteville. I live in LR now, so I'm not sure if its still in the same place. They do pay up front, but not a whole lot. They are very picky, but I always had pretty good luck with them. You take everything in a laundry basket or tub and sometimes, depending on how busy they are, you leave with an empty tub and a check in hand! But, like I said, they don't pay a whole lot. If you want to make more money, you might check www.rhealana.com for some info on a one-time event sale. I've sold my kid's things at the LR sale and made a TON. You have to enter your items online, take them up there and put them out, but when the sale is over, you pick up what's left plus your check. Good luck!

In Bentonville there is Little Britches and between Lowell and Springdale there are two on 71 Business. I think one is called 9 months and the other is right across the road. I think they all take all pieces with or without the outfit. I know that they are kind of picky about stains and holes, but otherwise they seem to take name brand and non-name brand clothes. Obviously, the name brand are priced a little higher. I'd give them a call and find out how they do it. Some might give you in store credit only, rather than cash, and if your daughter already has tons of clothes that probably wouldn't be much help.

You might try ebay, I have seen and often get really good stuff from there. Also you could pput an ad in your news paper as most consignment shoppes charge 50% it is cheeper to do it your self if you can.

Have you ever thought about doing the growing kids sale? They do it twice a year. The next time will be in April... It's a big consignment for parents and it's just a weekend thing and if it doesn't sell you can pick it up and they will send you the money for the things that did sell. I've always thought about doing it but have always been a procrastinator. There are super nice clothes to clothes that have no matches but people buy anyways because they just need something to play in... (you would be surprised). I'm not sure of the website but I know in Fort Smith it takes place at Kay Rogers Park. Good luck with your search...

Have you thought of selling on eBay?? This is something that is easy to do and you would not believe how much people will pay for your New With Tags (NWT) clothes, New Without Tags, and even slightly worn clothes. Last year a pair of my daughters old p.j.'s sold on eBay for over $9.00 - much more than I would have gotten at a yard sale.

I had to teach myself how to sell on eBay, but they have step by step instructions on getting set up. My hardest thing was getting pictures from the camera to the computer!

Anyway, just an idea. You can make A LOT of money this way.

Good luck!

There are a couple of consignment stores in NWA. The only one that I have used is Once Upon a Child on College Ave. It is pretty nice and depending on how many clothes you have you could probably get everything done in one trip. When I went there, I dropped off the clothes and filled out their forms and then went grocery shopping. I went back after I finished and they had already gone through five tupperware containers and I received my money. They also have very nice second hand clothes at resonable prices. This is the only one I know of in Fayetteville, but there are two or more in Bentonville. The only one that I know the name of is From Mom to Me http://www.frommomtome.com/.

There is also a big consignment sale coming up at the NWA convention center from 2/12-2/23. The contact number for this is ###-###-####. I have never done one of these so I don't know how they work. You could also check out www.rhealana.com. They have a consignment sale coming up in March.

I hope this info helps. I know it can be frustrating when our kids grow out of their clothes before they can even wear them.

You ought to try the Just Between Friends consignment sales. They are twice a year with the spring sale coming up soon. There will be one this year in Rogers and one in Fort Smith. The web site is www.jbfsale.com. Click on the link to find a sale near you. My experience with Just Between Friends was in Tulsa and these guys are awesome. This sale is so much better than Rhea Lana in my opinion.

I am not sure about your area, do a search in your area for seasonal consignment sales. It is a short 2-3 day sale and you get your money with in a few weeks. I know there are some in Georgia, Kentucky and I have started one in Louisiana. Mine is called Merry-Go-Rounds. You might find a need for one where you live and can start your own. My website is www.merrygorounds.org if you want to see how it works!
I found that there were only a few stores in my city and the quality isn't always good and the prices are high-I think this new way works great! Try www.kidsconsignmentsales.com they have several sales listed in Arkansas. Good Luck!

I live in central Arkanasas ,but with 3 kids I was consigning alot. If your wanting to get the money faster one way to go is consign with Rhea Lana's. It is a consignment event that happens twice a year. The website is rhealana.com. I like this because I dont have to wait weeks or months to find out if my stuff is selling and then what doesn't sale I put in a consignment shop. I am getting ready for the sale now. It's very easy. You can price everything online and Rhea Lana herself is very helpful if you have questions, you can email her. I hope this helps!

I know that it's not NWA but Conway used to have a nice consignment shop. Also Duck Duck Goose in LR is held a couple times a year at the fairgrounds. A friend of mine cosigns her kids clothes and makes a killing. She also ends up buying all her clothes for the season there. Not much help on NWA but know a more about Central AR

Hello!! I have done consignment shops, some pay up front and others don't. One suggestion I have is e-bay, you can sell almost anything on e-bay. You just set up an account and take your pictures and put them on the computer. The other thing I know is that you can google consignment shops in your area and get some info. on all of them. I think personally I would do the e-bay thing first, it's alot less trouble. Let me know how things turn out for you! Good luck!

I would suggest Once Upon A Child in Fiesta Square in Fayetteville. You bring in your tubs of clothes and drop them off. They go through them and you come back a little later to pick up what they did not want. They give you the option of cash back or store credit.

Rhea Lana's is a fabulous consignment sale that occurs twice a year and I know she has a sale in Northwest Arkansas that should be coming up. You take it all at one time, lasts about a week and then you get your money at the end of the week. If you consign you even get a chance to shop early. Check out her website at Rhealanas.com I think. Hope this helps.

Hi, consignment shops are usually a good source of placing nice, outgrown clothing, shoes, etc. Another avenue you might try is an ebay store. There are many ebay stores that you can take your merchandise to them and they will list, sell and send it for you. They will take a % of price sold. It's just another option. Good luck.
