I need a flavorful finger-food or appetizer recipe. I don't want a dip or anything using cream cheese--there's always plenty of those types at our informal family Christmas celebration. I will be taking it to my grandma's house. I can keep whatever it is warm in a crockpot if need be. Come on, Mamas!!! Whatcha got?? TIA!!

These are a bit of work, but worth it. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Baby-BLT/Detail.aspx There are never ANY leftovers. For a wedding of 100, I made over 400 of these and they were all gone. I make the filling the day before and I use the pre-cooked picnic bacon you can get in the salad aisle. The day of I stuff the tomatoes. I slice off the tops and then use a baby spoon or grapefruit spoon to empty them. Then I spoon in the filling. I used to slice a little piece off the bottom to keep them from rolling, but it became too much work. Now I just stuff the tray full so they don't roll around until they are being eaten and by then who cares?

Well, I have taken meatballs in the crock pot before, and they are always enjoyed. Best part, they are so easy! One bag of frozen meatballs, one jar of grape jelly, and one jar of Chili sauce. That is it..it goes like crazy too! HTH! Not amazing, but a simple crowd pleaser. ~A.~

I do a water chestnut appetizer.

I'm giving you this recipe from memory...if you want it, I can look it up but you can get the gist of it this way.

Whole water chestnuts, wrap a piece of bacon around it (about 1/2 piece or so) toothpick it on, bake.

The baking part can get a little messy with bacon grease but the appetizer is great!

I also do Golden Mushroom puffs. Again, if you want the details, just ask. It is not as cheesy as it sounds. It's more bready

crescent dough, cream cheese, small jar of chopped mushrooms, seasoning. Mix cheese, mushrooms and seasonings in 1 bowl.
Roll out the dough in 1 piece. apread mixture over dough, roll up, slice into pieces, like a spiral, arrange on baking sheet, take 1 beaten egg and brush each one with a little egg, sprinkle with a little poppyseeds and bake. These always go fast around here. Easier to do than it sounds.

Enjoy

This is super simple, but something my family has always devoured. Pigs in a Blanket! I use the cocktail weenies and crescent rolls. Unroll the crescent triangle and slice it into fourths. Roll each sausage and place on a baking sheet. Bake according to crescent roll directions. My family also likes the cocktail weenies in the crockpot with barbecue sauce. What can I say? We're simple folk!

My aunt makes sausage balls every year and I LOVE them.

Ingredients
1 lb grated cheddar cheese
1 lb pork sausage (in the tube)
3 C of Bisquick

Mix all ingredients well until they start to stick and you can form balls. Place sausage balls on cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. This recipe will yield 50.

Another one I like is a cheese "bread."

Ingredients
1/4 C butter/margarine, melted
1 C flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
2 eggs, beaten
1C milk
One of the following combinations:
16 oz shredded pepperjack cheese (can use plain if you don't like it too spicy)
4 oz can chopped chilies
OR
16 oz shredded cheddar/monterrey jack cheese
10 oz chopped frozen spinach, thawed with all water squeezed out

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine ingredients in large bowl and stir until well mixed. Pour into greased pan (10x13) and bake for 35 minutes. Cut into bite-size squares before serving.
