We have a free day in New York City tomorrow (going up for a play Sunday). It'll be my husband and 2 teens. What are your suggestions for things to do? (Statue of Liberty tour sold out). GO!

Central Park is lovely.
Too bad it's raining today :(

The museums, walking across the Brooklyn Bridge was cooler than I thought it would be. Again the rain?

The Chysler building is my favorite.

My teens liked the street food & people watching the best....
Although Grand Central was a huge hit as well, although I think it's because of the Apple Store. :)

Have fun!

Do you want to go uptown, midtown or downtown?

Uptown: central park, museum of natural history, metropolitan museum of art, the Cloisters, Roosevelt Island tram, riverside park (westside) East river promenade (east side)

Midtown: Rockefeller center, Sony tech center (get free tickets online today), Grand Central Station (lunch downstairs), UN, Times Square, Macys (flower show is going on - gorgeous floral decor all through the first floor)

Downtown - start midtown on the Highline, Chelsea market for lunch, Chelsea pier, Greenwich village ("the village") & Washignton Square, Canal Street shopping, Chinatown for dinner, World Trade Center memorial, Staten Island Ferry, South street seaport.

Depends on what you like. Empire state building observation deck is cool. Metropolitan museum of art is a wonderful way to spend part of the day (you don't have to pay the admission price since its just a suggested donation). The intrepid museum, poke around grand central station, poke around china town. Take a ride on the staten island ferry. Check out time square and pick up cheap same day theater tickets at the tkts booth. Walk everywhere, eat food out of food carts and off food trucks.

Walk the Highline, go to Economy Candy, eat at Yonah Schimmel's, buy coffee at Porto Rico, pay tribute to John Lennon at Strawberry Fields, take a ride on the Staten Island Ferry, and take in everything in between. The above is actually part of what my 19 year old and her friend did in one day in January. Oh, they rented City Bikes too. There are so many wonderful places to go and things to see in NYC. My personal favorite is the Museum of Natural History. Have you ever been to the Cloisters? Have fun!

Lots of good ideas - I'll add a few...

Go downtown to Chinatown, Little Italy and Soho,. Be adventurous and eat in Chinatown. Grab Pastry in Little Italy.

Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge to Brooklyn. So cool. You can grab food in Brooklyn or walk back across or take the subway back (green line, towards Manhattan).

Your teens will love Chinatown. It's an experience.

Get tix for "The Ride." It is awesome. Great for teens too. Part your part the eater! Very unique my fav thing. South Street a Seaport. 9/11 Museum, Staten Island Ferry ((free). You can get great photos of Lady Liberty. If you google NYC many things will pop up.

The Ride IMO is a must do. Everyone I have suggested it to, has loved it.

Have fun!

mommy poppins is a good resource for stuff to do in the city. as is NY for $9.99. Take a look online for each.

As for the statue of liberty tour, a ride on the circle line, or the staten island ferry is a good alternative.

Best,
