Has anyone tried the Snuza Halo? It is a new safe sleep monitoring system to help prevent SIDS. It clips to the diaper and an alarm will sound if there is no movement after 15 seconds.

What can I do next?

I have angel monitor for my two sons which works on the same idea. My oldest son is three and I still use it for him because now it lets me know when he is out of bed. My youngest is 7 months and I use it with him as well. I have had one true alarm with both of them when they were smaller and my picking them up/grabbing them was enough to make them catch their breath.

We are considering the yellow one(I think it's the mini) for our third. We had the angelcare monitor for our second, but he only slept in the crib for the first 4 weeks. After that he would only sleep in the bouncy seat or sometimes cosleep.( angelcare only works in the crib). Snuza has great reviews online:)

It won't prevent SIDS, but yes it alerts you. A friend of mine had one and hated it. I have the angelcare monitor and it is my best friend! Please contact me if you have any unanswered questions about SIDS... one of the other moms asked you if you had lost a child from it or if you are a first time mom... the chances of SIDS is very small and I can't speak for her, but I'm asking because it sounds like you're worried about something that you probably shouldn't be worrying about :) BEST WISHES!

The risks of SIDS have significantly gone down since people started putting their babies to sleep on their backs. I would worry more about that and making sure there isnt anything the kid could suffocate on than any monitor.

Haven't heard of that, but I love my AngelCare monitor. We did have some false alarms, but I slept so much better knowing we had it just in case. Also, it was wonderful not panicing the first time the baby slept through the night and I woke up to daylight. Follow all of the APA's recommendations: room temperature, fans, no first/second/third hand smoke, back to sleep, no obstructions, etc. and check out the AngelCare in addition.
BTW: We still use ours as a sound monitor for our now 1 year old. I love having the 2 parent units and the sound is crystal clear. We just removed the motion sensor pad and turned the unit to sound only.
Good luck!

I haven't heard of this, but if you don't mind me asking, have you already lost a baby to SIDS or are you a first time mommy? Only because I understand taking certain measures to lower your SIDS risk but this seems a bit over the top, UNLESS of course you have already lost a lil one to SIDS and your risk increased, then I would understand. If not, I would use a pacifier and a fan in the room, which have both been shown to significantly reduce the SIDS risk, and try not to stress! :)

I have not used that either, but I have heard from various sources that those are not always that reliable. It can sometimes cause more stress than it's worth. I second the idea of the fan. Also you can get a breathable crib bumper or just not use one at all. I ended up with the breathable one for my second child (didn't use one for my first) b/c his arms and legs kept slipping between the slats and waking him up.

I hope that you haven't lost a child already, I truly cannot imagine the pain of it. Try not to stress too much about SIDS. It is so, so scary and sometimes our worries can get the best of us. Read as much as you can on the topic to keep yourself in the know and on the defensive, but remember the risk goes down dramatically when they can roll on their own and then again after 6 months...hang in there!!!
