I'm not familiar with your city, but my first thought would be thrift stores and second-hand furniture stores! If you don't mind doing a little sewing, painting, etc., you could come up with a cute and inexpensive look.

There may also be a non-profit that provides household goods for low income residents. Look in the yellow pages under household goods or furniture or non-profit. Or ask at a thrift store about such an organization.

We just waited until we could afford just what we wanted. We have been here for about 5 months and still don't have Living room furniture outside of a coffee table and end tables.
If I were really pressed about it I would go a any of the other suggestions every week until I found what I was looking for.
Check out Craigslist. Just type Craigslist tucson in the search engine and you will come up with a great recourse at your hands... If you look, you can find GREAT deals!!! Good luck! Happy hunting!!
